Renault wil dat je vinger dat aangeeft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Renault test een nieuwe manier om dronken bestuurders te stoppen nog voordat ze wegrijden: een vinger op een sensor leggen zou al voldoende kunnen zijn om vast te stellen of iemand te veel heeft gedronken. Het idee klinkt futuristisch, maar is niet helemaal nieuw. Autofabrikanten en onderzoekers experimenteren al bijna twee decennia met alternatieven voor de traditionele alcoholtester.<\/p>\n<p>Wat het nieuwste project van Renault zo interessant maakt, is de manier waarop het bedrijf de technologie onopvallend in een gewone auto wil integreren, deze wil combineren met camera\u2019s die de bestuurder in de gaten houden, en het mogelijk nog voor het einde van dit decennium in productie wil nemen.<\/p>\n<h4>Het innovatieprogramma van Futurama<\/h4>\n<p>Het systeem wordt ontwikkeld in het kader van het Futurama-innovatieprogramma van de Renault-groep en werd eerder dit jaar voor het eerst getoond op het R-Space Lab-concept. Renault omschreef het toen simpelweg als een tactiele alcoholdetector, die onder andere bedoeld is om jonge bestuurders te helpen voorkomen dat ze na het drinken achter het stuur kruipen.<\/p>\n<p>Tijdens een recent bezoek van het Franse tijdschrift L\u2019Argus aan de Futurama-vestiging van Renault in Guyancourt hebben ingenieurs meer details bekendgemaakt. De bestuurder zou v\u00f3\u00f3r het starten een vinger op een sensor moeten plaatsen. Het systeem zou het alcoholgehalte schatten en het resultaat vergelijken met een vooraf vastgestelde drempelwaarde. Als die drempelwaarde wordt overschreden, zou de auto kunnen weigeren te starten.<\/p>\n<p>Renault onderzoekt ook de mogelijkheid van configuratie op afstand. Ouders zouden in theorie een alcoholgrens van nul kunnen instellen wanneer ze een auto aan een jonge bestuurder uitlenen, terwijl wagenparkbeheerders hun eigen drempelwaarden zouden kunnen opleggen.<\/p>\n<p>Dat leidt meteen tot een voor de hand liggende maas in de wet: een nuchtere passagier kan de vinger aanreiken. Renault wil de sensor daarom koppelen aan de camera\u2019s in het interieur van de auto, zodat het voertuig kan controleren of de geteste persoon daadwerkelijk de bestuurder is.<\/p>\n<p>Er staan klinische proeven op het programma om na te gaan of de metingen voldoende betrouwbaar zijn. Sommige technologie\u00ebn die in het kader van het R-Space Lab-programma zijn ontwikkeld, zouden vanaf ongeveer 2028 of 2029 kunnen worden ge\u00efntegreerd in het RGEV Medium 2.0-platform van de volgende generatie van Renault.<\/p>\n<h4>Renault is niet de eerste<\/h4>\n<p>Het achterliggende idee is al veel ouder. In 2007 presenteerde Nissan een conceptauto met een alcoholsensor die in de versnellingshendel was ingebouwd. Deze sensor analyseerde het zweet van de handpalm van de bestuurder en kon de versnellingsbak blokkeren als er alcohol werd gedetecteerd. Nissan experimenteerde ook met alcoholsensoren in de cabine en camera\u2019s die de ogen en het gedrag van de bestuurder in de gaten hielden.<\/p>\n<p>In de VS loopt sinds 2008 een nog ambitieuzer programma. Het Driver Alcohol Detection System for Safety, oftewel DADSS, wordt ondersteund door de Amerikaanse verkeersveiligheidsinstanties en grote autofabrikanten.<\/p>\n<p>Een van de technologie\u00ebn maakt gebruik van nabij-infraroodlicht om de alcoholconcentratie via de huid te meten. Een sensor zou in theorie kunnen worden ingebouwd in een startknop, een versnellingspook of een stuurwiel, waardoor de bestuurder getest kan worden door simpelweg een onderdeel van de auto aan te raken.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qgiUfnha2dY?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=nl-BE&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>De ontwikkeling van dat aanraaksysteem ging door tot 2025, toen het programma vanwege financi\u00eble beperkingen gedwongen werd zich te richten op een andere technologie: passieve ademdetectie.<\/p>\n<p>Die aanpak zou op termijn zelfs nog minder ingrijpend kunnen zijn. Sensoren die in de buurt van de bestuurder zijn geplaatst, analyseren de normale uitgeademde lucht, zonder dat iemand in een buisje hoeft te blazen. DADSS verwacht dat het nieuwste referentieontwerp dit jaar zal worden voltooid, waarna de licentieverlening aan toeleveranciers in de automobielsector mogelijk in 2027 van start gaat.<\/p>\n<p>Renault heeft niet precies bekendgemaakt hoe zijn vingersensor werkt, dus kan nog niet worden aangenomen dat deze gebruikmaakt van dezelfde infraroodspectroscopie.<\/p>\n<h4>Moeilijker dan het klinkt<\/h4>\n<p>Het probleem is niet het detecteren van alcohol, maar het doen van dat met voldoende nauwkeurigheid om iemands auto stil te zetten. De Amerikaanse veiligheidsinstantie NHTSA concludeerde eerder dit jaar dat geen enkel huidig productiesysteem op dit moment in staat is om passief alcoholgehaltes op of boven de wettelijke limiet met voldoende nauwkeurigheid te meten voor grootschalig gebruik.<\/p>\n<p>Zelfs zeer kleine foutpercentages kunnen problematisch worden wanneer ze worden toegepast op miljarden ritten. Een vals-positieve uitslag kan ertoe leiden dat een volkomen nuchtere bestuurder gestrand raakt, terwijl een vals-negatieve uitslag ervoor kan zorgen dat iemand die onder invloed is, toch mag rijden.<\/p>\n<p>Aanraaksensoren hebben bovendien te maken met koude vingers, zweet, verschillen in huidtextuur, handcr\u00e8me, vuil en jarenlange blootstelling aan hitte, vorst en trillingen in auto\u2019s. Dat verklaart mede waarom veelbelovende concepten die door Nissan, Toyota en anderen werden gedemonstreerd, nooit tot standaarduitrusting zijn uitgegroeid.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-191486\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Volvo-alcolock.jpg?resize=640%2C360&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Volvo-alcolock.jpg?resize=1024%2C576&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Volvo-alcolock.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Volvo-alcolock.jpg?w=1920&amp;ssl=1 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Volvo kwam al een stuk dichterbij met zijn Alcoguard, die in 2008 als fabrieksoptie op de markt werd gebracht. De bestuurder moest hiervoor nog steeds in een draadloze, draagbare alcoholtester blazen; in 2010 kostte het systeem ongeveer 850 euro, plus 50 tot 90 euro voor de installatie.<\/p>\n<h4>De regelgeving komt steeds dichterbij<\/h4>\n<p>De timing van Renault is niettemin interessant. Vanaf juli 2024 moeten nieuw geregistreerde voertuigen in de Europese Unie zijn uitgerust met een interface die de installatie van een alcoholslot mogelijk maakt. Het alcoholslot zelf is niet verplicht, maar de technische voorbereidingen moeten al wel zijn getroffen.<\/p>\n<p>In de nieuwste veiligheidsprotocollen van Euro NCAP wordt ook steeds meer belang gehecht aan technologie\u00ebn die in staat zijn om verminderde rijvaardigheid van de bestuurder te herkennen, onder meer als gevolg van alcohol- en drugsgebruik.<\/p>\n<p>Dat betekent dat alcoholdetectie zich geleidelijk zou kunnen ontwikkelen van apparatuur die vooral wordt geassocieerd met veroordeelde dronken bestuurders tot een volwaardige functie voor de voertuigveiligheid, naast vermoeidheidsmonitoring, automatisch noodremmen en snelheidsassistentie.<\/p>\n<p>Het zou pas echt bijzonder zijn als Renault eindelijk zou slagen waar eerdere projecten faalden: het idee omzetten in iets dat goedkoop, betrouwbaar en onopvallend genoeg is om in miljoenen gewone auto\u2019s te worden ingebouwd.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Renault is testing a new way of stopping drunk drivers before they even move: putting a finger on a sensor could be enough to determine whether someone has had too much to drink.
