BMW presenteerde zijn \u2018beest\u2019, de M3 Concept op basis van het Neue Klasse-platform, voor het eerst tijdens de 24 uur van Le Mans. Nu heeft BMW het model voor het eerst in de VS getoond tijdens de Monterey Car Week, met veel meer foto\u2019s en details.<\/p>\n

Officieel is het de bedoeling dat de M Concept Neue Klasse een toekomstvisie laat zien van wat er voor de M-divisie van BMW mogelijk is, zowel op het gebied van design als op technisch vlak. Op de nieuwe foto\u2019s is het concept vanuit verschillende hoeken te zien.<\/p>\n

Buiten<\/h4>\n

Qua uiterlijk wijkt de neus aanzienlijk af van die van de productieversie van de i3. De (gele) lichten hebben een ander ontwerp, de luchtinlaten zijn naar het midden verplaatst en zijn veel groter, de luchtinlaten aan de zijkant zijn vervangen door extra verlichting, en de auto heeft bovendien een haaienneus. De wielkasten aan de zijkant zijn veel indrukwekkender.<\/p>\n

Aan de achterkant bevindt zich een ducktail, en we zien dat dezelfde dubbele extra lampen die aan de voorkant zitten, in de zijskirts zijn terug te vinden in plaats van de reflectoren van de standaard i3. De onderkant is compleet anders, met enorme luchtkanalen die doen vermoeden dat er sprake is van een diffusoreffect.<\/p>\n

Binnen<\/h4>\n

In het interieur ziet de rijmodusschakelaar er totaal anders uit dan in de i3, en ook de middenconsole is veranderd. Het Panoramic Vision-display en het centrale touchscreen zijn ongewijzigd gebleven. Het stuurwiel is voorzien van grote tuimelschakelaars om de gesimuleerde versnellingen op en neer te schakelen.<\/p>\n

Met de rode schakelaars kun je schakelen tussen verschillende M-modi. De racestoelen zijn uitgerust met echte racegordels, en de twee noodstoelen achterin zijn uitsluitend bedoeld voor incidenteel passagiersvervoer.<\/p>\n

De echte M3<\/h4>\n

Het gerucht gaat dat de productieversie de naam M3 zal krijgen, en niet iM3 of i3M. Waarschijnlijk omdat een nieuwe versie van de M3 met verbrandingsmotor onmogelijk de prestaties van dit elektrische \u2018beest\u2019 kan evenaren. Het totale vermogen van de vier elektromotoren met torque vectoring is nog niet bekendgemaakt, maar zal waarschijnlijk rond de 735 kW\/1.000 hp of meer liggen.<\/p>\n

De accu zal qua grootte vergelijkbaar zijn met die van de i3 (109 kWh), maar het zal niet dezelfde zijn. Voor de M3 heeft BMW een speciale versie ontwikkeld met dezelfde cilindrische 4695-accucellen, maar dan aan alle kanten voorzien van koeling.<\/p>\n

Of dat allemaal in de productieversie terechtkomt, is nog onduidelijk, en we weten nog niet wanneer de nieuwe elektrische M3 op de markt komt, maar we kunnen er zeker van zijn dat we er in 2027 een zullen kunnen kopen. Je kunt er ook van uitgaan dat het prijskaartje niet bepaald bescheiden zal zijn.<\/p>\n
