Twee maanden nadat MG zijn nieuwe 07 fastback in China had onthuld, is de auto meteen een grote hit geworden. Het Britse merk van SAIC meldt dat het binnen slechts \u00e9\u00e9n minuut en 57 seconden na het openen van de bestellijst meer dan 10.000 vaste bestellingen binnenhaalde.<\/p>\n

Het totale aantal voorbestellingen steeg van 45.000 op de lanceringsdag naar 59.000 de volgende dag. MG zegt dat de vraag het bedrijf nu al dwingt om de productiecapaciteit uit te breiden, waarbij de versies met een grotere actieradius veel populairder blijken te zijn dan verwacht.<\/p>\n

De MG 07 werd officieel ge\u00efntroduceerd op de Chengdu Motor Show, met zeven volledig elektrische en plug-in hybride uitvoeringen. De offici\u00eble prijzen vari\u00ebren van 108.900 tot 159.900 yuan (\u20ac 13.900 - \u20ac 20.400), met tijdelijke introductieprijzen vanaf 105.900 yuan (\u20ac 13.500). De goedkoopste BEV kost 116.900 yuan, ofwel ongeveer \u20ac 14.900.<\/p>\n

Dat ligt aanzienlijk onder de eind juli aangekondigde voorverkoopprijs van 125.900 yuan, waardoor deze fastback van bijna 4,9 meter zelfs naar Chinese maatstaven buitengewoon goedkoop is.<\/p>\n

Kopers willen de dure versie<\/h4>\n

Misschien nog belangrijker dan het totale aantal bestellingen is wat klanten precies bestellen. Volgens MG maken de uitvoeringen met een actieradius van meer dan 800 kilometer al meer dan 45% van de bestellingen uit, wat ruim boven de eigen verwachtingen ligt. Het management had CATL al kort na de start van de voorverkoop gevraagd om twee extra productielijnen voor accu\u2019s in gebruik te nemen.<\/p>\n

Het vlaggenschip onder de BEV\u2019s combineert een CATL-accu van 91 kWh met een 800-volt-architectuur, 5C-opladen en een opgegeven CLTC-actieradius van 845 km. De goedkopere elektrische versies maken gebruik van een 67 kWh-accu en een 400-volt-systeem voor een CLTC-actieradius van 610 of 650 km.<\/p>\n

Er zijn ook twee plug-in-hybriden. Deze combineren een 1,5-liter benzinemotor met een elektromotor van 152 kW en bieden volgens de fabrikant een elektrisch CLTC-bereik van 245 km en een gecombineerd bereik van 1.745 km. De leveringen van de BEV met een actieradius van 650 km beginnen eind augustus, terwijl de versies met een actieradius van 845 km in oktober volgen.<\/p>\n

Als Newmobility.news schreef in juni<\/a>, de MG 07 is met name interessant voor Europa omdat hij qua afmetingen ongeveer even groot is als een Tesla Model 3 of een BYD Seal. Maar hij combineert die mainstream-positionering met uitrusting die je normaal gesproken in duurdere modellen aantreft: frameloze deuren, een liftback-achterklep, een actieve achterspoiler, LiDAR en het R7-platform voor rijhulpsystemen van Momenta.<\/p>\n

Europa is nog steeds niet bevestigd<\/h4>\n

MG heeft een Europese lancering nog steeds niet bevestigd, laat staan de timing in Belgi\u00eb of Nederland. Toch is de auto niet langer onbekend bij de Europese organisatie van MG. MG Motor Europe stelde de 07 in april op de autosalon van Peking voor als een van de belangrijke nieuwe elektrische modellen van het merk.<\/p>\n

Een introductie op de Europese markt in de loop van 2027 lijkt daarom aannemelijk, hoewel dit nog lang niet zeker is. Daarnaast is er een intern positioneringsprobleem: MG heeft onlangs de luxere elektrische sedan IM5 in Belgi\u00eb en Nederland op de markt gebracht.<\/p>\n

Daarnaast beschikt hij over 800-volt-technologie en een WLTP-actieradius van maximaal 655 km, waardoor er zonder een zorgvuldige prijsstelling weinig ruimte overblijft voor nog een grote elektrische sedan. En juist op het gebied van de prijsstelling wordt de MG 07 bijzonder interessant.<\/p>\n

Voor PHEV\u2019s zou de weg wellicht gemakkelijker zijn<\/h4>\n

Door SAIC gebouwde, volledig elektrische auto\u2019s die uit China worden ge\u00efmporteerd, zijn momenteel onderworpen aan het hoogste antisubsidietarief van de EU: 35,31 TP3T, bovenop het normale invoerrecht. Dat betekent dat niemand de Chinese prijs van de MG 07 zomaar mag omrekenen naar een Europese showroomprijs.<\/p>\n

De plug-in-hybride valt echter (NOG) niet onder de huidige compenserende maatregel voor volledig elektrische voertuigen (BEV). Tenzij Brussel zijn handelsmaatregelen uitbreidt naar Chinese PHEV\u2019s, zou dat het voor MG veel gemakkelijker kunnen maken om de hybride versie met een actieradius van 245 km in Europa tegen een concurrerende prijs aan te bieden dan de volledig elektrische variant.<\/p>\n

De Europese Commissie heeft tot nu toe geweigerd zich uit te laten over de vraag of zij een apart onderzoek naar Chinese PHEV\u2019s zou kunnen starten. Het zou een ironische wending zijn voor een markt die bezig is met het uitfaseren van verbrandingsmotoren: de benzineversie zou wel eens de gemakkelijkste MG 07 kunnen zijn om hier als eerste op de markt te brengen.<\/p>\n

Op langere termijn heeft MG nog een ander antwoord. De nieuwe fabriek van 200 miljoen euro in Galici\u00eb, Spanje, zal naar verwachting in 2028 de productie starten en heeft een capaciteit van maximaal 120.000 voertuigen per jaar.<\/p>\n

MG heeft nog niet bekendgemaakt welke modellen daar zullen worden gebouwd, dus het zou voorbarig zijn om de MG 07 al aan Spanje te koppelen. Maar lokale productie zou uiteindelijk een groot deel van de tariefbelemmering kunnen wegnemen die nu op de in China gebouwde MG-EV\u2019s drukt.<\/p>\n

Voorlopig kan Europa alleen maar toekijken hoe China zich ontwikkelt. Als MG ook maar een deel van die 59.000 vroege bestellingen weet om te zetten in leveringen, zou de MG 07 wel eens een te belangrijk product kunnen worden om alleen op de thuismarkt aan te bieden. De vraag is dan misschien niet meer of MG zo\u2019n auto in Europa kan verkopen, maar welke aandrijflijn het zich kan veroorloven om als eerste op de markt te brengen.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
