Sinds hun uitbreiding naar de EU hebben ze nog nooit een hoger marktaandeel behaald.<\/p>\n<p>Dat is bijna het dubbele van de 5,61 TP3T die ze vorig jaar in dezelfde maand rapporteerden, en het bevestigt een trend die iedereen die Chinese fabrikanten nog steeds als marginale spelers beschouwt, zorgen zou moeten baren.<\/p>\n<p>Als we naar de eerste helft van het jaar kijken, hebben Chinese merken in heel Europa 813.096 voertuigen geregistreerd. Dat is nu al meer dan het totale aantal van het kalenderjaar 2025, dat 644 stuks lager uitkwam.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">MG bovenop\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>SAIC staat nog steeds op de eerste plaats onder de Chinese spelers, dankzij de sterke banden van MG met het vasteland en met name het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Het aantal registraties van de groep steeg met 19%.<\/p>\n<p>Maar de echte groei zit erachter. BYD maakte een sprong van 146%, terwijl de Chery Group haar verkoopvolume meer dan verdrievoudigde (201.544 eenheden). De BYD Seal U, een middelgrote SUV, was het bestverkochte Chinese model van de maand en tevens de bestverkochte plug-in hybride in heel Europa.<\/p>\n<p>Waar komt die groei vandaan? Nou, plug-in-hybriden waren in juli duidelijk de drijvende kracht. De verkoop van PHEV\u2019s van Chinese merken schoot met 201% omhoog en veroverde daarmee een aandeel van 33,6% in de totale Chinese verkoop. De verkoop van volledige hybriden steeg met 137%.<\/p>\n<p>Die aandrijflijnen vallen momenteel nog steeds niet onder de strafheffingen die Brussel aan Chinese elektrische voertuigen heeft opgelegd. Hoewel de Europese Commissie nu overweegt de heffingen uit te breiden naar PHEV\u2019s, blijft de maas in de wet wijd open.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>De volledig elektrische modellen hebben echter het grootste aandeel: 35%, een stijging van 114%. Dat aandeel is even groot als in juli vorig jaar. Ten slotte is het aanbod van modellen met benzinemotor ingestort tot slechts 10% van het volume, terwijl dat een jaar eerder nog twee keer zo hoog was (23%). Er is een verschuiving gaande.<\/p>\n<h4>E\u00e9n op de drie tegen 2030?<\/h4>\n<p>Maar de prognoses zijn nog interessanter. Een analyse van Reuters, waarin Counterpoint Research wordt aangehaald, voorspelt dat Chinese merken tegen 2030 meer dan 20% van de totale Europese markt voor personenauto\u2019s voor hun rekening zullen nemen. In het segment van de elektrische auto\u2019s loopt dat aandeel op tot 29%.<\/p>\n<p>Dat is bijna \u00e9\u00e9n op de drie nieuwe elektrische voertuigen.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Deze prognose is niet louter speculatief, aangezien de groei van Chinese merken ronduit verbluffend is. Nog geen vijf jaar geleden bedroeg hun marktaandeel niet meer dan 0,5%.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Op de achtergrond verschuift het verkoopmechanisme van export naar lokale productie. Volgens Mobility Global zal de productie van Chinese merken in Europa dit jaar naar verwachting ongeveer 90.000 voertuigen bedragen, om vervolgens op te lopen tot 1 miljoen in 2030 en 1,5 miljoen per jaar in 2035. Terwijl de gevestigde merken kampen met overcapaciteit, vullen de Chinese merken het gat op<\/p>\n<h4>Productiecentrum Spanje<\/h4>\n<p>Het epicentrum van de Europese productie ligt duidelijk in Spanje, met een lange lijst van industri\u00eble projecten in de pijplijn. Chery begint dit jaar met de assemblage van Jaecoo- en Omoda-modellen in de voormalige Nissan-fabriek in Barcelona. Leapmotor zal gebruikmaken van de fabriek van Stellantis in Zaragoza. Geely gaat een joint venture aangaan met Ford in Valencia. Het MG-merk van SAIC zal vanaf 2028 beginnen met de assemblage in Galici\u00eb.<\/p>\n<p>Het lijkt steeds waarschijnlijker dat BYD, dat dit najaar in Hongarije met de productie van start gaat, een tweede Europese fabriek in Spanje zal openen. Naar verwachting zal tegen 2030 ongeveer de helft van alle auto\u2019s van Chinese merken die in Europa worden gebouwd, in Spanje van de band rollen. Tegen 2035 zou dat aandeel kunnen oplopen tot bijna tweederde.<\/p>\n<p>Hoewel het erop lijkt dat de \u2018gele invasie\u2019 werkgelegenheid cre\u00ebert, zou de onderliggende realiteit wel eens grimmiger kunnen zijn. Analisten wijzen op een neveneffect waarbij Europa uiteindelijk niet veel meer zou zijn dan een 'schroevendraaiereconomie', waarin ge\u00efmporteerde bouwpakketten worden geassembleerd, terwijl de winstgevende engineering en batterijchemie in Azi\u00eb blijven. Het zou ook de toeleveringsketen kunnen verstoren, doordat leveranciers in Chinese handen vallen, wat de braindrain zou versnellen.<\/p>\n<h4>Groeipijnen<\/h4>\n<p>Maar de snelle opmars van Chinese merken in de Europese verkoopranglijsten gaat ook gepaard met groeipijnen. Eerder deze maand waarschuwden Duitse dealers voor ernstige betalingsachterstanden bij merken als BYD en Xpeng.<\/p>\n<p>Ze beschuldigen deze autofabrikanten ervan hun dealernetwerk te gebruiken als onvrijwillige banken, die hen renteloze leningen verstrekken. Deze praktijk, die in China heeft geleid tot een corrigerende wet waarbij de betalingstermijnen zijn verlengd tot 60 dagen, heeft er al toe geleid dat de getroffen dealers hun verdere uitbreidingsplannen hebben uitgesteld.<\/p>\n<p>Ook verzekeraars zetten een rem op de versnelde groei. In Nederland heeft verzekeraar Univ\u00e9 negen Chinese OEM\u2019s op de zwarte lijst gezet vanwege een gebrekkige levering van onderdelen.
