Hij kan met zijn harige staart kwispelen en vervolgens je pakketje op je veranda \u2018neerpoepen\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>De R-dog heeft vier scharnierende poten met wieltjes aan de uiteinden, waardoor hij soepel over trottoirs kan rollen, maar zijn poten kan gebruiken voor stoepranden, treden en trappen. Volgens Robot.com is dit bedoeld om het beruchte \u201claatste 100 meter\u201d-probleem op te lossen: conventionele trottoirrobots kunnen wel je straat bereiken, maar vaak niet de voordeur.<\/p>\n<p>De makers van de R-dog beweren dat hun robot, dankzij zijn vermogen om trappen op en af te gaan en lage hindernissen sneller en effectiever te overwinnen dan veel van de hoekigere bezorgrobots die momenteel op de markt zijn, gemakkelijker meer eindbestemmingen kan bereiken \u2013 terwijl er de hele tijd advertenties op zijn schermen worden getoond. Dat maakt de R-dog eigenlijk meer tot een wandelend reclamebord dat toevallig ook je pakketje of afhaalmaaltijd bezorgt.<\/p>\n<h4>Bedrijfsmodel voor mobiele reclame<\/h4>\n<p><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">Wat echt bijzonder is aan de R-dog van Robot.com, is de combinatie van een bezorgrobot die trappen kan beklimmen, een bewust hondachtige persoonlijkheid, geautomatiseerde aflevering aan de voordeur en, vooral, een bedrijfsmodel op basis van mobiele reclame. Robot.com lijkt bezorgkosten niet te zien als de enige inkomstenbron van de robot.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">Wat de R-dog bovendien onderscheidt, is zijn toegankelijke ontwerp en het vermogen om een \u201cnatuurlijk gesprek\u201d te voeren met voorbijgangers \u2013 technologie die volgens de makers zou kunnen leiden tot flexibelere en interactievere reclamecampagnes.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_192827\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-192827\" style=\"width: 1470px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-192827 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Scherm%C2%ADafbeelding-2026-08-31-om-11.12.46.png?resize=640%2C352&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"352\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Scherm%C2%ADafbeelding-2026-08-31-om-11.12.46.png?w=1470&amp;ssl=1 1470w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Scherm%C2%ADafbeelding-2026-08-31-om-11.12.46.png?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-192827\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Volgens Robots.com is de R-dog in staat tot \u201cnatuurlijke gesprekken\u201d met voorbijgangers \u2013 een technologie die, zo suggereren de makers, zou kunnen leiden tot flexibelere en interactievere reclamecampagnes \/robot.com<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>De ingebouwde camera\u2019s en sensoren van R-dog dienen daarom niet alleen om zich in de omgeving te ori\u00ebnteren, maar ook om gegevens te verzamelen. Ze analyseren de gezichten van mensen, tellen hoeveel mensen reageren op de schermen waarop de robot advertenties afspeelt, en voeren tot op zekere hoogte een sentimentanalyse op die reacties uit.<\/p>\n<p>Maar de R-dog is nog steeds een prototype. De makers hebben het laadruim nog niet eens definitief afgerond en hebben ook nog geen concrete specificaties bekendgemaakt over het laadvermogen, het bereik of de accu. De productiestart is gepland voor 2027, en de robot zal in eerste instantie worden ingezet op universiteitscampussen, waar het bedrijf al aanzienlijke ervaring heeft met bezorgingen. Een Europese introductie van de R-dog is nog niet aangekondigd.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MsciGVRlRgM?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=nl-BE&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<h4>Soortgelijke Europese projecten<\/h4>\n<p><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">Het R-dog-concept is ook niet uniek. In Europa bestaat er namelijk al een opvallend vergelijkbare robot: de bezorgrobot met wielen en poten van het Zwitserse robotica-bedrijf RIVR. De RIVR ONE rijdt op wielen voor effici\u00ebntie, gebruikt zijn poten voor stoepranden en trappen en heeft zelfs een robotarm waarmee hij poorten kan openen of pakketten bij de voordeur kan neerzetten. Hij kan meer dan 30 kg vervoeren.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Wat nog belangrijker is: het blijft niet bij een concept. RIVR en Just Eat zijn in augustus 2025 in Z\u00fcrich begonnen met het bezorgen van echte restaurantbestellingen. In februari 2026 breidden ze de dienst uit naar Milton Keynes in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, waar klanten in de gewone Just Eat-app daadwerkelijk kunnen kiezen voor bezorging door een autonome robot. De robot neemt trappen en oneffen terrein moeiteloos en kan de bestelling zonder toezicht bij de voordeur afleveren.<\/p>\n<p>Het reclame-element zou echter een commercieel belangrijk verschil kunnen zijn. Een van de fundamentele problemen bij autonome bezorging is van economische aard: een besparing van \u20ac 5 tot \u20ac 10 aan bezorgkosten dekt niet noodzakelijkerwijs de kosten van een dure robot, toezicht op afstand, onderhoud, opladen en wagenparkbeheer. Reclame zou de bezorgactiviteiten kunnen subsidi\u00ebren.<\/p>\n<p>Andere Europese landen <span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">blijven ook niet achter. In Finland hebben Starship en retailketen S Group hun conventionele zeswielige trottoirrobots al opgeschaald van tien proefexemplaren naar meer dan 650 robots die meer dan 165 winkels in 82 steden en dorpen bedienen. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">Ze hebben al een miljoen boodschappenbezorgingen uitgevoerd, met een gemiddelde bezorgtijd van ongeveer 22 minuten. <\/span>Deze robots kunnen je trap niet beklimmen zoals RIVR of R-dog, maar ze laten wel zien dat autonome bezorging in Europa het experimentele stadium al ruimschoots achter zich heeft gelaten.<\/p>\n<h4>Belgi\u00eb<\/h4>\n<p>In Belgi\u00eb heeft Carrefour begin 2023 in Zaventem de Delivers.ai-robots voor op de stoep getest en vervolgens drie robots ingezet: Natacha, Nono en Loulou <strong>\u2013<\/strong> die zomer op de openbare wegen en fietspaden in Knokke.<\/p>\n<p>Ze reden met een snelheid van ongeveer 6 km\/u, konden tot 25 kg vervoeren en bezorgden Deliveroo-bestellingen binnen een straal van 400 meter. Na evaluatie bleek het project technisch gezien een succes, maar het genereerde onvoldoende omzet om winstgevend te worden.<\/p>\n<p>Ook in Belgi\u00eb heeft Collect&amp;Go van Colruyt onlangs in Leuven een proefproject gestart met autonome bezorging van boodschappen, dat loopt van half mei tot augustus 2026. Dit keer gaat het niet om een klein robotje voor op de stoep, maar om een klein elektrisch bestelvoertuig voor op de openbare weg, dat door het bedrijf wordt omschreven als het eerste onbemande voertuig in Belgi\u00eb dat op de openbare weg mag rijden zonder een vaste route te volgen.\u00a0<span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">Er is nog geen eindbeoordeling beschikbaar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">De R-dog ziet er best leuk uit, maar hij zal zeker geen revolutie teweegbrengen in de bezorgsector. Het concept roept echter wel vragen op over de winstgevendheid van dergelijke onbemande bezorgingen. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">De echte vraag die nog onbeantwoord is, is of deuroverleveringsrobots goedkoper en handiger kunnen zijn dan een menselijke koerier.
