De langverwachte Polestar 4 SUV is voorzien van een achterruit, in tegenstelling tot het oorspronkelijke concept. Het model verliest daarmee een van zijn meest opvallende kenmerken, maar wint aan bruikbaarheid. Is dit de auto die Polestar vanaf het begin had moeten lanceren?<\/p>\n

Polestar heeft eindelijk de voor de hand liggende stap gezet. De originele 4, die wereldwijd nog steeds de bestseller van het merk is, behoudt zijn aflopende daklijn en achteruitkijkcamera. Maar zoals begin dit jaar aangekondigd, wordt hij gedegradeerd tot de status van coup\u00e9. De nieuwkomer draagt de naam SUV en biedt meer praktische ruimte achterin en een achterruit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Geproduceerd in Zuid-Korea<\/h4>\n

In Belgi\u00eb is hij te koop vanaf \u20ac 59.900, wat eigenlijk \u20ac 2.000 minder is dan zijn Coup\u00e9-tegenhanger. Dit zou te maken kunnen hebben met de productielocatie. De Coup\u00e9 wordt voornamelijk gebouwd in Hangzhou, China, maar de SUV wordt uitsluitend gebouwd in Busan, Zuid-Korea.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Het label \u2018SUV\u2019 heeft iets te veel gewicht. De 4 SUV is op zijn best een chique crossover, maar wij zien hem liever als een hoog op de wielen staande elektrische stationwagen. Polestar heeft de neus en de algemene proporties van de Coup\u00e9 behouden, maar vanaf de B-stijl loopt het dak langer en hoger door. De achterklep staat rechter. Het silhouet doet meer denken aan een lifestyle-stationwagen, wat niet ver afstaat van wat de meeste gezinnen eigenlijk willen.<\/p>\n

De achterruit keert terug<\/h4>\n

De 4 SUV maakt dus een einde aan de controversi\u00eble keuze om de achterruit volledig weg te laten en een camera op het dak te koppelen aan een digitale spiegel. Met een echte achterruit en een conventionele binnenspiegel als standaarduitrusting is de digitale cameraspiegel in dit geval alleen als optie verkrijgbaar. Polestar komt tegemoet aan degenen die de stijl wel mooi vinden, maar zich niet konden verzoenen met de verchroomde achterkant. Het blijft een omstreden kenmerk.<\/p>\n

Ook de praktische voordelen vormen een steekhoudend argument. De bagageruimte onder de hoedenplank is vergroot tot 530 liter, en die ruimte wordt nog groter als je de auto tot aan het dak vol laadt. Het maximale volume met neergeklapte achterbank is nu 1.665 liter, een stijging ten opzichte van de 1.536 liter in de Coup\u00e9. Voorin bevindt zich een 15 liter grote bagageruimte in de motorkap.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Passagiers achterin krijgen ongeveer 2,5 centimeter extra hoofdruimte. Dankzij de ge\u00efntegreerde dakrails en een hogere dynamische dakbelasting van 100 kg \u2013 een verhoging ten opzichte van 75 kg \u2013 richt Polestar zich expliciet op een doelgroep die op zoek is naar meer functionaliteit.<\/p>\n

Strakkere vering\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Maar onder de motorkap is er niets revolutionairs veranderd. Het is dezelfde 400-volt-architectuur, hetzelfde accupakket van 100 kWh, dezelfde keuze uit \u00e9\u00e9n of twee motoren. Het vermogen blijft het vertrouwde 272 hp of 544 hp.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Verrassend genoeg bedraagt de actieradius van de SUV-versie volgens de fabrikant maar liefst 630 kilometer volgens de WLTP-norm, uitsluitend met een motor achterin (600 km voor de versie met twee motoren). Dat is 10 kilometer verder dan bij de Coup\u00e9, ondanks de minder gunstige aerodynamica en een hoger gewicht (+35 kg voor de versie met \u00e9\u00e9n motor en +20 kg voor de versie met vierwielaandrijving). Polestar geeft geen uitleg over de oorzaak van deze toename in actieradius. Maar het zou aan de banden kunnen liggen \u2013 bij de SUV zijn de Pirelli-banden vervangen door Hankook-banden.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Polestar maakt ook van de gelegenheid gebruik om een herziene, meer gerichte chassisafstelling te introduceren, die op beide carrosserievarianten van toepassing is. En wat nieuwe functies betreft: er is een \u2018vehicle-to-load\u2019-functie (3,3 kW) om externe apparaten via de accu van stroom te voorzien, terwijl de \u2018Camping Mode\u2019 ervoor zorgt dat de klimaatregeling, verlichting en het infotainmentsysteem actief blijven wanneer de auto geparkeerd staat.
