In juli en augustus kozen 15 miljoen incidentele reizigers ervoor om met de trein te reizen. Dit waren reizigers met losse kaartjes, geen abonnementen. Dat waren er 9,3% meer dan in dezelfde periode vorig jaar.<\/p>\n

De Belgische kust bleef een van de populairste bestemmingen: tijdens de zomer werden er 1,7 miljoen kaartjes verkocht van en naar stations aan de kust, een stijging van 8,5% ten opzichte van vorig jaar.<\/p>\n

Train+ is een hit<\/h4>\n

Het aantrekken van meer vakantiegangers is al geruime tijd een prioriteit voor de Belgische spoorwegmaatschappij NMBS\/SNCB. Vorig jaar heeft het bedrijf bijvoorbeeld een betaalde kortingskaart (Train+) ge\u00efntroduceerd, specifiek om incidentele reizigers aan te moedigen vaker de trein te nemen.<\/p>\n

\u201cTijdens de zomermaanden werden er ongeveer 40% ritten op basis van een ticket gemaakt met Train+, wat de groeiende populariteit van dit aanbod bevestigt\u201d, aldus NMBS\/SNCB.<\/p>\n

Met Train+ betalen volwassenen nooit meer dan 14 \u20ac voor een rit, ongeacht de afgelegde afstand. Jongeren, senioren en personen die in aanmerking komen voor een verhoogde subsidie betalen nooit meer dan 5,5 \u20ac.<\/p>\n

Festivals en in het buitenland<\/h4>\n

De trein was niet alleen een populaire bestemming aan de kust, maar speelde ook een belangrijke rol voor festivalgangers: meer dan 250.000 festivalgangers reisden met de trein. Voor hen zette de NMBS\/SNCB 130 speciale treinen in, waaronder 105 nachttreinen.<\/p>\n

Ook het internationale treinverkeer kende een sterke zomer, met een stijging van 8,8% in het aantal boekingen. Frankrijk blijft de populairste internationale bestemming, gevolgd door Nederland, Luxemburg, Duitsland en het Verenigd Koninkrijk.<\/p>\n

Uit de meest recente enqu\u00eates blijkt dat meer dan 75% reizigers tevreden waren over hun treinreizen tijdens de zomermaanden. Onder vakantiegangers ligt dat cijfer op 80%; onder degenen die de trein gebruiken voor een vakantie of een dagtrip is het 90%.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
