Veel kinderen fietsen elke dag naar school, maar hun fietsen \u2013 en dat is de schuld van de ouders \u2013 zijn niet altijd veilig: er ontbreken reflectoren, de verlichting is kapot of de remmen zijn versleten.<\/p>\n

Om dit probleem aan te pakken, lanceert de mobiliteitsorganisatie en pechhulpdienst Touring \u2018Ring Ring Bike Squad\u2019, een gratis pakket waarmee scholen zelf fietsinspecties voor hun leerlingen kunnen organiseren.<\/p>\n

Lesplannen en fietscontrole<\/h4>\n

In Vlaanderen is de fiets veruit het meest gebruikte vervoermiddel om naar de middelbare school te gaan, met 46%, maar ook veel leerlingen jonger dan 15 jaar fietsen elke weekdag naar school \u2013 al dan niet onder toezicht \u2013 op wegen die hopelijk veilig zijn. Toch zijn de fietsen die voor de rit naar school worden gebruikt niet altijd even veilig.<\/p>\n

Met Ring Ring wil Touring dit probleem nu op schoolniveau aanpakken. Scholen die zich gratis registreren als \u201cRing Ring-school\u201d op touring.be, ontvangen in eerste instantie lesplannen ingedeeld per leerjaar (van het 1e tot en met het 6e leerjaar, elk aangepast aan het juiste moeilijkheidsniveau), een instructievideo over hoe je een fiets controleert, en praktisch materiaal.<\/p>\n

Het lesmateriaal behandelt onderwerpen zoals de \u201c7 controlepunten voor een veilige fiets\u201d (wiel, rem, stuur, bel, verlichting, band, reflector) en maakt gebruik van specifieke Belgische statistieken om het veiligheidsthema in de juiste context te plaatsen.<\/p>\n

Gedeelde verantwoordelijkheid<\/h4>\n

Vervolgens stelt de school haar eigen \u201cRing Ring Bike Squad\u201d samen: leraren, ouders of vrijwilligers die de fietsen van de leerlingen inspecteren en te herkennen zijn aan hun vesten en speldjes. Na de controle krijgt elke fiets een label: blauw betekent \u2019in goede staat\u201c, geel staat voor \u201dheeft wat aandacht nodig\u201c.\u201d<\/p>\n

In het geval van geel scannen de leerlingen een QR-code voor meer informatie en bespreken ze dit met hun ouders, zodat de fiets samen kan worden gerepareerd.<\/p>\n

Mobiliteitsweek<\/h4>\n

En nog wat gerelateerd nieuws: gisteren ging in Belgi\u00eb de Mobiliteitsweek van start. Onder het motto \u201cgoedgekeurd door kinderen\u201d pleit de Fietsersbond, samen met haar partners, ervoor dat het perspectief van kinderen daadwerkelijk wordt meegenomen in het verkeer en de openbare ruimte, omdat verschillende obstakels \u2013 van onveilige fietsroutes tot levensgevaarlijke kruispunten \u2013 het voor kinderen en jongeren moeilijk maken om zelfstandig te fietsen.<\/p>\n

Van de ongeveer 7.000 km fietspaden langs Vlaamse gewestwegen krijgen 40% een onvoldoende in de eigen kwaliteitsbeoordeling van het Agentschap voor Wegen en Verkeer. Dat komt neer op meer dan 3.000 kilometer\u2026<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
