Als je dacht dat de Tesla Cybertruck er al extreem uitzag, denk dan nog maar eens goed na. Maak kennis met de Exobot Sedan en SUV, de eerste modellen van het Saoedi-Arabische bedrijf Ceer Motors.<\/p>\n

Ceer Motors is een relatief nieuwe autofabrikant, opgericht in 2022. Het bedrijf wordt gesteund door het Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) en heeft als doel de economie van het land te diversifi\u00ebren en de afhankelijkheid van olie-inkomsten te verminderen.<\/p>\n

Het PIF is een joint venture aangegaan met het Taiwanese bedrijf Foxconn, dat bekendstaat om de productie van iPhones, maar het heeft ook een automobielsector<\/a>. Naast die grote namen onderhoudt het bedrijf ook samenwerkingsverbanden met BMW, Rimac, Siemens en Hyundai Transys voor de levering van onderdelen.<\/p>\n

Het bedrijf gaat zijn auto\u2019s in Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb bouwen. Het wordt de eerste fabrikant die dit doet, en het streeft er bovendien naar om tegen 2034 voor 45% aan lokaal geproduceerde materialen te gebruiken. Ceer betekent in het Arabisch \u2018vooruit rijden\u2019, en het bedrijf is van plan om tegen 2030 een breed assortiment van zeven auto\u2019s op de markt te brengen. Niet alleen luxe elektrische auto\u2019s, maar ook kleinere auto\u2019s met verbrandingsmotoren.<\/p>\n

Ontworpen om de aandacht te trekken<\/b><\/h4>\n

De eerste twee modellen zijn echter elektrische auto\u2019s die er spectaculair uitzien en uitstekend presteren: de Exobot Sedan en de Exobot SUV. Hun expressieve uiterlijk is ontworpen door Rob Melville, voormalig ontwerpdirecteur bij McLaren.<\/p>\n

De wigvormige sedan en SUV zouden niet misstaan in een RoboCop- of Batman-film. De voorwielen hebben een diameter van 23 inch, de achterwielen 24 inch. Perfect om de aandacht te trekken, zowel voor de bestuurder als voor een merk dat een imago wil opbouwen.<\/p>\n

Het interieur, dat toegankelijk is via vleugeldeuren, heeft een al even opvallend ontwerp. Een 48-inch 8K-scherm strekt zich uit over het dashboard, en een centraal 10,4-inch 2K-scherm fungeert als commandocentrum. Het J-vormige stuurwiel is gekoppeld aan 'steer-by-wire'-technologie.<\/p>\n

Volgens Ceer wordt het interieur overspoeld met licht dat door de grootste voorruit komt die ooit is geproduceerd. Deze is 2,4 meter lang en heeft een radicale hellingshoek van 15\u00b0. Een geavanceerde reflecterende coating houdt zoveel mogelijk zonnewarmte buiten de cabine.<\/p>\n

Ceer wil dat de auto\u2019s de Saoedi-Arabische cultuur weerspiegelen, met een subtiele integratie van verschillende details. De verlichting bestaat uit 32 lichtbalken, een verwijzing naar 1932, het jaar waarin Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb een koninkrijk werd. De wielen zijn voorzien van driehoekige vormen, ge\u00efnspireerd op de Al-Lahuj-openingen in de lokale architectuur.<\/p>\n

Krachtig, en er komt nog meer aan<\/b><\/h4>\n

Beide auto\u2019s zijn volledig elektrisch en hebben hetzelfde platform met een wielbasis van 3,2 meter. De sedan is meer dan 5,2 meter lang, terwijl de SUV iets meer dan 5 meter meet. Beide zijn 2,1 meter breed.<\/p>\n

Achter het opvallende ontwerp gaan bij de Exobots even indrukwekkende prestaties schuil. Beide modellen zijn uitgerust met drie elektromotoren met een totaal vermogen van 850 pk en 1.000 Nm. Hierdoor accelereert de Sedan in 2,6 seconden van 0 naar 100 en de SUV in 2,9 seconden. Later volgen nog krachtigere aandrijflijnen, met in totaal 1.111 hp en 1.500 Nm.<\/p>\n

Beide modellen zijn uitgerust met een NMC-accu (nikkel-mangaan-kobalt) met een capaciteit van 112 kWh, waardoor de sedan een actieradius van 670 km heeft en de SUV 560 km. De actieradius wordt echter gemeten volgens de NEDC-cyclus, niet volgens de WLTP.<\/p>\n

Maar die cijfers zijn sowieso slechts ter informatie, aangezien er (nog?) geen bevestiging is dat de auto\u2019s op de Europese markt zullen verschijnen. Het snelladen via gelijkstroom heeft een vermogen van 250 kW.<\/p>\n
