Volkswagen, de grootste autofabrikant van Duitsland, roept bijna 3 miljoen voertuigen terug vanwege mogelijke corrosie in het stuurmechanisme. Het Duitse Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) heeft dit bekendgemaakt en verklaarde dat een bout in het systeem kan roesten, waardoor de stuurfunctie kan worden aangetast.<\/p>\n

2,16 miljoen Volkswagen-auto\u2019s van de modellen Golf, Golf Variant, Tiguan, Touran en Caddy, geproduceerd tussen 2013 en 2024, zijn hierdoor getroffen, evenals 700.000 Audi's, voornamelijk Q3-modellen die tussen 2017 en 2024 zijn gebouwd.<\/p>\n

Volgens het doorgaans goed ge\u00efnformeerde Duitse dagblad Handelsblatt zou het totaal kunnen oplopen tot 4 miljoen auto\u2019s, waaronder ongeveer 1 miljoen Skoda\u2019s en zo\u2019n 200.000 Seat\u2019s (het KBA noemt de modellen Ateca en Tarraco die tussen april 2016 en september 2024 zijn geproduceerd).<\/p>\n

Voorzorgsmaatregel<\/h4>\n

Volkswagen heeft bekendgemaakt dat het al een preventieve terugroepactie heeft gestart. Eigenaren zullen via hun dealer een brief van de fabrikant ontvangen waarin hen wordt gevraagd langs te komen om de betreffende bout te laten vervangen. Tot die tijd benadrukt VW dat het veilig is om gewoon door te rijden. \u201cWe voeren deze terugroepactie preventief uit; er zijn geen ongevallen of letsels geregistreerd die door dit probleem zijn veroorzaakt.\u201d<\/p>\n

Het is nog niet bekend om hoeveel voertuigen het in Belgi\u00eb gaat. \u201cDe eigenaars zullen zeker een terugroepbrief ontvangen, zodat ze een afspraak kunnen maken bij de dealer om de bout te laten vervangen\u201d, zegt Jean-Marc Ponteville, woordvoerder van importeur D\u2019Ieteren. De reparatie duurt ongeveer een uur en is uiteraard gratis.<\/p>\n

Grootste terugroepactie sinds Dieselgate<\/h4>\n

Dit is de grootste terugroepactie die de VW-groep moet organiseren sinds het beruchte Dieselgate-schandaal in 2015, toen de groep wereldwijd meer dan 11 miljoen auto\u2019s moest terugroepen.<\/p>\n

De kosten van de terugroepactie zijn nog onbekend, maar deze komt op een zeer ongelukkig moment. De hele Volkswagen-groep kampt met dalende verkopen en winsten. De Chinese automarkt (de grootste markt van Volkswagen van de afgelopen jaren) wordt getroffen door hevige concurrentie; Chinese merken betreden nu ook de Europese markt, en de invoerheffingen van Trump hebben een negatieve invloed op de verkoop in de VS.<\/p>\n

Voeg daar nog aan toe dat de VW-groep de energietransitie deels heeft gemist en enorme bedragen in elektrificatie heeft moeten investeren, is het geen wonder dat het topmanagement overal probeert te bezuinigen en overweegt om alleen al in Duitsland 100.000 banen of meer te schrappen en mogelijk vier fabrieken in Duitsland te sluiten.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
