Er klopt weer een Chinees merk van elektrische auto\u2019s aan de deur van Europa, maar dit nog maar pas opgerichte AIVA heeft opvallend invloedrijke achterban.<\/p>\n

Het merk, dat wordt gesteund door Seres en batterijgigant CATL, heeft Parijs gekozen voor de wereldpremi\u00e8re van zijn eerste productiemodel, de ME7. De verkoop in Europa is echter nog niet bevestigd.<\/p>\n

AIVA werd in juni 2026 opgericht door Chongqing Saidou Technology, voorheen bekend als Landian Technology. Seres bezit bijna 33% van het bedrijf, terwijl CATL ongeveer 10% in handen heeft. Door deze combinatie krijgt de nieuwkomer toegang tot de expertise van Seres op het gebied van productie en voertuigontwikkeling en tot de batterijtechnologie van CATL.<\/p>\n

Een derde belangrijke partner is afkomstig van buiten de traditionele auto-industrie. Volcengine, de cloud- en AI-divisie van ByteDance, het moederbedrijf van TikTok, levert kunstmatige-intelligentietechnologie voor het voertuig, terwijl de Chinese specialist op het gebied van autonoom rijden, DeepRoute, naar verluidt betrokken is bij de rijhulpsystemen.<\/p>\n

Een productiemodel, niet zomaar een conceptauto<\/h4>\n

AIVA had eerder dit jaar al zijn Origin-concept gepresenteerd, maar de auto die in Parijs werd getoond, is de productieversie ME7. De vijfdeurscrossover is 4,85 meter lang en heeft een wielbasis van 2,90 meter, waarmee hij zich duidelijk in het segment van auto's als de Tesla Model Y, XPeng G6, BYD Sealion 7 en Polestar 4 bevindt.<\/p>\n

Door zijn lage daklijn en opvallende achterspoiler is de ME7 meer een SUV-coup\u00e9 dan een conventionele gezins-SUV. Een van de opvallendere kenmerken zijn de interactieve koplampen in pixelstijl, die verschillende patronen kunnen weergeven en op gebaren reageren.<\/p>\n

Volgens AIVA zal de ME7 zowel als volledig elektrisch model als met een aandrijflijn met range extender worden aangeboden. Er zijn ook ontwikkelingsprototypes gespot met lidar op het dak.<\/p>\n

Technische specificaties zijn nog steeds verrassend schaars. AIVA heeft nog geen bevestigde gegevens gepubliceerd over de accucapaciteit, het motorvermogen, de acceleratiecijfers, de oplaadsnelheden of de actieradius.<\/p>\n

In eerdere Chinese berichten werd de ME7 in verband gebracht met de nieuwste batterijwisseltechnologie van CATL, waaronder een 800-volt batterijpakket van 75 kWh. Dit is echter nog niet bevestigd voor het productiemodel en moet daarom met de nodige voorzichtigheid worden benaderd.<\/p>\n

Europa blijft een open vraag<\/h4>\n

De keuze voor de Paris Fashion Week als locatie voor de wereldwijde onthulling is een duidelijk teken van internationale ambitie. AIVA heeft ook laten weten van plan te zijn voertuigen buiten China te verkopen, maar er is op dit moment nog geen Europese lanceringsdatum, homologatieschema of distributienetwerk bekendgemaakt.<\/p>\n

Er zijn nog geen bevestigde plannen voor AIVA in Belgi\u00eb of Nederland. Seres zelf is al in beperkte mate aanwezig op beide markten: de Seres 3 wordt in Belgi\u00eb via dealers verkocht en in Nederland wordt het merk vertegenwoordigd door Astara.<\/p>\n

Dat zou AIVA mogelijk een bestaande route naar de markt kunnen bieden, hoewel AIVA zich profileert als een onafhankelijk merk en nog niet heeft aangegeven of het gebruik zal maken van de huidige Europese verkoopkanalen van Seres.<\/p>\n

Ook over de prijsstelling is nog onduidelijkheid. AIVA heeft eerder aangegeven dat zijn modellen gericht zullen zijn op de Chinese markt in de prijsklasse boven de 200.000 yuan, wat neerkomt op ongeveer 24.000 euro exclusief belastingen en Europese importkosten. Dat bedrag mag niet worden opgevat als een verwachte prijs voor Europa.<\/p>\n

Als de ME7 uiteindelijk hier op de markt komt, zal de concurrentie hevig zijn. De Tesla Model Y blijft de voor de hand liggende maatstaf, terwijl Chinese concurrenten, waaronder de XPeng G6, BYD Sealion 7 en Zeekr 7X, nu al concurrerende prijzen combineren met een groot bereik en zeer snelle oplaadtijden.
