Tijdens de Capital Market Day 2026 gaf de BMW Group een uitgebreid inzicht in haar bedrijfsstrategie. De in M\u00fcnchen gevestigde autofabrikant maakte onder meer bekend dat zij later dit jaar de volledig elektrische iX4 zal onthullen en van plan is om over twee jaar een elektrische compacte auto op basis van het Neue Klasse-platform op de markt te brengen. Het model zal waarschijnlijk de BMW i1 gaan heten.<\/p>\n

Er zijn nog steeds weinig details bekend over het nieuwe, volledig elektrische instapmodel van BMW. Tijdens het evenement verklaarde het bedrijf slechts dat de BMW Group ernaar streeft om \u201chet volumsegment in 2028 strategisch uit te breiden met een ander volledig elektrisch model van de Neue Klasse\u2018, met de nadruk op de Europese markt. Dit betekent dat een compact model voor het eerst zal profiteren van de innovaties van de \u2019Neue Klasse\u2019.<\/p>\n

Er wordt gespeculeerd dat het hier zou kunnen gaan om de BMW i1, intern aangeduid als NB0, zoals gemeld door de op BMW gerichte blog \u2018Bimmer Today\u2019. Al in 2024 verschenen er inderdaad berichten in de media waarin werd beweerd dat BMW twee elektrische compacte modellen op de markt zou brengen, de i1 en de i2. Zoals het Britse autotijdschrift \u201cAutocar\u201d destijds schreef, zou de i1, afhankelijk van de markt, als compacte hatchback of compacte sedan op de markt kunnen komen. Tot op heden zijn er echter nog geen verdere details over de carrosserievorm bevestigd.<\/p>\n

iX4 later dit jaar<\/h4>\n

Na de invoering van de technologie\u00ebn van het Neue Klasse-platform \u2013 eerst met de volledig elektrische SUV iX3<\/a> en, meer recentelijk, met de volledig elektrische sedan i3<\/a> \u2013 Uit een presentatie tijdens de Capital Market Day bleek dat de volledig elektrische iX4 later dit jaar ook zal worden onthuld.<\/p>\n

Naar verwachting gaat het om een elektrische SUV-coup\u00e9 die lijkt op de iX3, en deze zal waarschijnlijk ook in Debrecen, Hongarije, worden geproduceerd. De vorige X3 met verbrandingsmotor had eveneens een SUV-coup\u00e9-variant, de X4.<\/p>\n

Tegelijkertijd benadrukt BMW dat de Neue Klasse \u201cconcurrerende technologie biedt in het gehele assortiment en voor alle soorten aandrijvingen\u201d, wat betekent dat ten minste enkele onderdelen ook in hybride voertuigen en voertuigen met verbrandingsmotor zullen worden gebruikt.<\/p>\n

Met de eerste modellen van de Neue Klasse meent BMW ook de basis te hebben gelegd voor de volgende generatie digitale voertuigen. BMW zal de nieuwe zonale elektrische\/elektronische architectuur in de toekomst in alle voertuigsegmenten gaan toepassen. Volgens de in M\u00fcnchen gevestigde autofabrikant laat de \u2018Neue Klasse\u2019 nu al zien hoe intelligente software en kunstmatige intelligentie de klantervaring optimaliseren. Deze technologie\u00ebn vormen de ideale basis voor de volgende stap in de ontwikkeling: het \u2018AI-Defined Vehicle\u2019.<\/div>\n

In dit concept zal de nadruk verschuiven van afzonderlijke functies naar het intu\u00eftieve samenspel van het gehele voertuig, over alle domeinen en contexten heen. Van rijhulpsystemen tot infotainment en basiscomfortfuncties: alle systemen zullen naadloos en intelligent op elkaar inspelen, afhankelijk van de situatie.<\/div>\n

Het management van BMW beschouwt de Neue Klasse al enkele maanden na de marktintroductie als een groot succes: zoals gemeld, de Er zijn al meer dan 100.000 bestellingen voor de iX3 binnengekomen<\/a>, met tot nu toe meer dan 30.000 geleverde eenheden.<\/p>\n
