Belgi\u00eb wil op openbare locaties \u2018alcoholpoorten\u2019 naar Zweeds voorbeeld invoeren als onderdeel van een bredere aanpak van rijden onder invloed. Het systeem, dat in Zweden al wordt gebruikt, verplicht bestuurders om een ademtest te ondergaan voordat een slagboom opengaat, waardoor bestuurders die de limiet overschrijden, geen toegang krijgen tot het openbare wegennet.<\/p>

De federale regering is van plan de technologie te testen op een openbare parkeerplaats, met het oog op mogelijk later gebruik op parkeergarages en bij grote evenementen. Tegelijkertijd zal Belgi\u00eb vanaf 2027 de regels voor beginnende bestuurders aanscherpen door hun wettelijke alcohollimiet tijdens de eerste drie jaar na het behalen van het rijbewijs te verlagen van 0,5 naar 0,2 promille.<\/p>
