De strategie van Renault om zijn elektrische modellen betaalbaarder te maken, begint vorm te krijgen. In navolging van soortgelijke aanpassingen aan de Renault 5 in augustus introduceert de Franse autofabrikant nu een nieuwe instapversie van de Renault 4 met een kleinere LFP-accu, een minder krachtige elektromotor en een startprijs van 27.600 euro in Belgi\u00eb.<\/p>\n

Dat is \u20ac 2.300 minder dan de oorspronkelijke Belgische introductieprijs van de Renault 4, die \u20ac 29.900 bedroeg. Deze besparing gaat echter gepaard met relatief kleine concessies op het gebied van prestaties, uitrusting en actieradius.<\/p>\n

De nieuwe \u2018Jogging\u2019-versie, die naar verwachting nog voor eind 2026 op de markt komt, maakt deel uit van Renaults bredere inspanningen om de productiekosten van elektrische auto\u2019s te verlagen en effectiever te concurreren in het steeds drukker wordende segment van betaalbare elektrische auto\u2019s in Europa.<\/p>\n

Van speculatie tot bevestiging<\/h4>\n

Als NewMobility.News meldde in juni<\/a>, Renault werkte aan technische verbeteringen voor zowel de elektrische Renault 4 als de 5, waaronder effici\u00ebntere elektrische aandrijflijnen en de mogelijke introductie van goedkopere lithium-ijzerfosfaatbatterijen (LFP).<\/p>\n

De Renault 5 kreeg in augustus zijn eerste verbeteringen. Nu volgt de Renault 4 met een nieuwe aandrijflijn voor het instapsegment en een accu op basis van de goedkopere LFP-chemie.<\/p>\n

In tegenstelling tot de nikkel-mangaan-kobalt (NMC)-batterijen die in de duurdere versies worden gebruikt, bevatten LFP-cellen geen nikkel of kobalt in hun kathodes. In combinatie met een meer ge\u00efntegreerde architectuur van cel tot accupakket zou dit Renault moeten helpen de productiekosten van de batterijen te verlagen.<\/p>\n

De nieuwe Jogging krijgt ook een elektromotor van 80 kW (110 pk) uit dezelfde serie als de motor die in de elektrische Twingo wordt gebruikt.<\/p>\n

Kleinere accu, vrijwel hetzelfde bereik<\/h4>\n

Ondanks de kleinere accu belooft de nieuwe Renault 4 Jogging een WLTP-actieradius van 305 km, wat opmerkelijk dicht in de buurt komt van de ongeveer 310 km die de vorige 40 kWh Urban Range-versie bood.<\/p>\n

De motor levert 110 hp en 225 Nm koppel, tegenover 150 hp en 245 Nm bij de Comfort Range-modellen met een grotere accu.<\/p>\n

De acceleratie van 0 naar 100 km\/uur duurt 10,2 seconden, tegenover 8,2 seconden bij de krachtigere uitvoeringen. Snelladen via gelijkstroom blijft mogelijk tot 80 kW, tegenover 100 kW bij de Comfort Range.<\/p>\n

Deze cijfers onderstrepen de verschuiving in de prioriteiten van Renault. In plaats van alleen maar de accucapaciteit en het vermogen te vergroten, streeft de fabrikant naar een evenwichtiger verhouding tussen prijs, effici\u00ebntie en bruikbaarheid in het dagelijks gebruik.<\/p>\n

27.600 euro, maar niet zonder concessies<\/h4>\n

Uit de Belgische prijslijst van Renault voor oktober blijkt dat de nieuwe Jogging \u20ac 27.600 inclusief btw gaat kosten. In Luxemburg, waar de btw lager is, bedraagt de prijs \u20ac 26.687,60.<\/p>\n

Daardoor is de nieuwe versie aanzienlijk toegankelijker dan de 52 kWh Evolution Comfort Range, die in Belgi\u00eb vanaf \u20ac 33.350 kost.<\/p>\n

Het prijsverschil van 5.750 euro is echter niet alleen te wijten aan een kleinere accu en motor. De Jogging wordt ook geleverd met een eenvoudiger uitrustingspakket.<\/p>\n

Het beschikt over handmatige in plaats van automatische airconditioning, een eenvoudiger digitaal instrumentenpaneel en een multimediasysteem zonder de in de Evolution aangeboden navigatie met Google-integratie. De warmtepomp behoort tot de standaarduitrusting van de Evolution, maar niet van de Jogging, terwijl de Vehicle-to-Load-functionaliteit voorbehouden is aan de duurdere uitvoeringen.<\/p>\n

Voor kopers die hun elektrische auto voornamelijk gebruiken voor het dagelijkse woon-werkverkeer en kortere ritten, wegen de besparingen wellicht zwaarder dan deze nadelen. Anderen geven misschien de voorkeur aan de grotere actieradius en het extra comfort van de versies met een grotere accu.<\/p>\n

Groter bereik voor de bestaande versies<\/h4>\n

Ondertussen werkt Renault aan het verbeteren van de effici\u00ebntie van zijn bestaande Renault 4-modellen.<\/p>\n

De Evolution Comfort Range met een accucapaciteit van 52 kWh haalt nu een actieradius van maximaal 415 km volgens de WLTP-norm, tegenover 409 km voorheen, mede dankzij aerodynamische verbeteringen aan de onderkant van de carrosserie en de buitenspiegels.<\/p>\n

Andere uitvoeringen vertonen enigszins afwijkende cijfers, afhankelijk van de uitrusting en de carrosserieconfiguratie. De Plein Sud-modellen met open dak bijvoorbeeld offeren een deel van hun effici\u00ebntie op ten gunste van hun kenmerkende lifestyle-uitstraling.<\/p>\n

Aan de andere kant van het assortiment begint de nieuwe Roland-Garros Plein Sud-editie in Belgi\u00eb bij \u20ac 40.150, wat aantoont hoe breed Renault zijn op retro ge\u00efnspireerde elektrische crossover wil positioneren.<\/p>\n

De ervaring van de eigenaar verbeteren<\/h4>\n

Naast de mechanische aanpassingen introduceert Renault ook een aantal verbeteringen die het dagelijkse rijden met een elektrische auto gemakkelijker moeten maken. Bestuurders kunnen de voorverwarming van de accu handmatig inschakelen voordat ze stoppen om snel op te laden met gelijkstroom, zonder eerst een laadstation in het navigatiesysteem te hoeven selecteren.<\/p>\n

Andere nieuwe functies zijn onder meer oplaadmeldingen via de My Renault-smartphone-app, een voorspellende assistent voor zuinig rijden en een noodstopfunctie die het voertuig tot stilstand brengt als de bestuurder niet meer reageert.<\/p>\n

Deze aanpassingen zouden de gebruiksvriendelijkheid van de Renault 4 moeten verbeteren, met name voor bestuurders die vaak gebruikmaken van openbare laadinfrastructuur.<\/p>\n

Betaalbare elektrische auto\u2019s krijgen prioriteit<\/h4>\n

De komst van de Jogging met LFP-aandrijving illustreert een bredere verschuiving op de Europese markt voor elektrische auto\u2019s. Nu er steeds meer concurrerende modellen van Stellantis, Hyundai en Chinese fabrikanten op de markt komen, kan Renault niet langer alleen vertrouwen op een opvallend ontwerp en nostalgie. Prijs, effici\u00ebntie en gebruikskosten worden net zo belangrijk.<\/p>\n

Met een prijs van 27.600 euro blijft de Renault 4 boven de symbolische drempel van 25.000 euro. Toch laat de nieuwe instapversie zien hoe goedkopere batterijchemie en gedeelde technologie voor elektrische aandrijflijnen fabrikanten kunnen helpen de prijzen te verlagen zonder dat dit ten koste gaat van de actieradius.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
