BMW maakt zich op om zijn eerste elektrische SUV met drie zitrijen (zes of zeven zitplaatsen) te introduceren. Nu de offici\u00eble onthulling nadert, is de iX7 tijdens testritten gespot, waardoor we alvast een voorproefje krijgen van deze full-size luxe-SUV. Het testvoertuig reed naast de huidige X7 M60, het vlaggenschip met een V8-motor van 523 pk dat momenteel aan de top van het SUV-gamma van BMW staat.<\/p>\n

De iX7 is de elektrische versie van BMW\u2019s grootste en meest luxueuze SUV. Hoewel BMW dit nog niet officieel heeft aangekondigd, zijn er onlangs gecamoufleerde prototypes gespot tijdens testritten op de N\u00fcrburgring in Duitsland.<\/p>\n

Na de iX3<\/a> en iX5<\/a>, de iX7 is de volgende BMW-SUV die zijn debuut maakt met de technologie en het ontwerp van de Neue Klasse. Maar net als de iX5 zal de elektrische SUV met drie zitrijen van BMW een meer traditionele stijl behouden dan de volledig op de Neue Klasse gebaseerde EV\u2019s, zoals de iX3, iX4 en de aankomende nieuwe iX1. Net als de iX5 zal hij ook gebruikmaken van een vernieuwd CLAR-platform in plaats van de speciale elektrische architectuur van de Neue Klasse.<\/p>\n

Meer traditioneel<\/h4>\n

Hoewel de auto nog steeds afgedekt is, hebben Electrek en anderen de Reddit-afbeelding van SHProshots opgepikt. De grille lijkt veel breder en robuuster dan het slanke, rechtopstaande en vernieuwde \u2018Kidney Grille\u2019-ontwerp van de iX3. De auto heeft ook gesplitste koplampen, vergelijkbaar met de huidige X7, in plaats van de bredere koplampen op de Neue Klasse-modellen.<\/p>\n

Bij de iX7 zijn ook de traditionele deurhendels vervangen door kleine handgrepen die aan de stijlen van de auto zijn bevestigd. We zien dit bij steeds meer nieuwe auto's, vooral bij SUV's, zoals de onlangs gelanceerde Volvo EX60. BMW zal ongetwijfeld meer details bekendmaken naarmate de introductie nadert, die naar verwachting medio 2027 zal plaatsvinden. Hierdoor kan deze grote SUV worden uitgerust met verschillende aandrijflijnen, waaronder een waterstofaandrijving, zoals ook gepland is voor de iX5.<\/p>\n

Vierwielaandrijving<\/h4>\n

Net als de kleinere iX5 60 xDrive zal de iX7 naar verwachting gebruikmaken van een aandrijflijn met twee motoren en vierwielaandrijving. De vierwielaandrijving van de iX5 levert 578 hp (425 kW) en 805 Nm koppel, waarmee de auto volgens BMW in 4,6 seconden van 0 naar 100 kph accelereert.<\/p>\n

De iX5 wordt aangedreven door een accu van 144 kWh en zal volgens BMW een actieradius van ten minste 645 km hebben. Het model zal bovendien gebruikmaken van een 800V-elektrisch systeem voor snel opladen. BMW verwacht eind 2027 in zijn fabriek in Spartanburg in de VS te beginnen met de productie van de iX7, naast de nieuwe iX5.<\/p>\n

In Europa is de vraag naar zulke grote (en dure) SUV\u2019s niet enorm, maar in de VS en China is er een grotere doelgroep. En natuurlijk wil BMW niet dat dit kleine maar lucratieve segment wordt gedomineerd door aartsrivalen als Audi (de aankomende Q9) en Mercedes (GLS en AMG GT SUV<\/a>) maar ook Cadillac (Escalade IQ). In China zal er ook lokale concurrentie zijn, zoals de BYD Tang<\/a> die binnenkort wordt gelanceerd.<\/p>\n

Opladen met 460 kW<\/h4>\n

Tijdens een media-evenement in Zuid-Californi\u00eb deze week lieten BMW, Ionna en Alpitronic zien dat de iX5 60 xDrive een piekvermogen van 464 kW haalt tijdens het opladen. BMW verklaarde dat de iX5 60 xDrive met een pieklaadvermogen van maximaal 460 kW in 10 minuten een actieradius van maximaal 275 km kan toevoegen.<\/p>\n

Nu we het toch over opladen hebben: Ionna, een netwerk voor snelladen in de VS dat wordt gesteund door acht grote autofabrikanten, waaronder BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis en Toyota, bereidt zich voor om het personeel van dealers op een paar honderd locaties op te leiden, zo vertelde CEO Seth Cutler aan Business Insider.<\/p>\n

\u201cIk zeg tegen mensen: als we aan het einde van dit decennium geen vooruitgang hebben geboekt bij de acceptatie van elektrische auto\u2019s, dan heeft Ionna gefaald,\u201d zei Cutler. Hij zei dat de sector jarenlang heeft gewerkt aan het verbeteren van de elektrische auto\u2019s zelf \u2013 actieradius, prestaties en laadsnelheid \u2013 terwijl betrouwbare openbare laadpunten, met name langs snelwegen en in stedelijke omgevingen, een hardnekkige barri\u00e8re zijn gebleven. \u201cWe zijn er sterk van overtuigd dat als we dit goed aanpakken, we de acceptatie van elektrische auto\u2019s kunnen stimuleren,\u201d voegde Cutler toe.<\/p>\n

Dit alles gebeurt terwijl Ionna probeert een serieuze concurrent te worden in de race om oplaadpunten voor elektrische auto\u2019s, die tot nu toe door Tesla werd gedomineerd. Dit jaar heeft Ionna het aantal oplaadpunten in de VS meer dan verdubbeld: van 90 actieve oplaadpunten in januari naar 191 begin oktober. Cutler verwacht deze maand het lint door te knippen bij de 200e locatie.<\/p>\n

Dat is nog steeds een schijntje vergeleken met Tesla, dat in de hele VS meer dan 3.000 laadpunten heeft. Ionna moet ook concurreren met Walmart, dat in hoog tempo zijn netwerk van snellaadpunten voor elektrische auto\u2019s uitbreidt, met ongeveer 300 locaties in aanbouw bij zijn winkels.<\/p>\n

Ionna heeft zich gericht op het combineren van zijn laadstations met diverse voorzieningen. Verschillende oplaadlocaties zijn uitgerust met raamwisser, vuilnisbakken, de hele dag toegankelijke toiletten, lounges en, in sommige gevallen, gemakswinkels met de \u2018Just Walk Out\u2019-technologie van Amazon.
