Lepas, een merk van het Chinese Chery-concern, heeft de Aura onthuld. Deze shooting brake is de \u201ceerste wereldwijde conceptcar\u201d van het merk en zal als inspiratiebron dienen voor het ontwerp van toekomstige modellen.<\/p>\n

Chery klinkt bij Europese klanten misschien nog niet zo bekend als merken als BYD of MG. Maar nu de verkoopcijfers van zijn merken Jaecoo en Omoda omhoogschieten, behoort het tot de best verkopende Chinese autoconcerns in Europa.<\/p>\n

Wereldheerschappij<\/b><\/h4>\n

Chery is in andere Europese landen al onder zijn eigen merknaam op de markt aanwezig. Het bedrijf is van plan de Belgische markt te betreden, te beginnen met de Tiggo 7 Hybrid.<\/p>\n

Met zijn andere merken doet de groep het relatief goed in Belgi\u00eb. Volgens cijfers van Febiac werden er in de eerste negen maanden van 2026 in het land 1.853 Jaecoo-modellen geregistreerd, en 1.376 Omodas. Dat komt neer op marktaandelen van respectievelijk 0,58% en 0,43%.<\/p>\n

Het Verenigd Koninkrijk is een belangrijke markt voor de groep, en met een voorlopig aantal Europese registraties van 56.552 eenheden voor al zijn merken in september 2026 groeit Chery snel op het hele continent. Maar Chery wil meer. Vorig jaar presenteerde de op drie na grootste autofabrikant van China plannen om uit te groeien tot 's werelds toonaangevende Chinese groep, met een stortvloed aan nieuwe modellen en merken.<\/p>\n

Tot de nieuwe merken behoren Luxeed, een samenwerking met Huawei, en Lepas.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Lepas is al actief in Europa, voornamelijk op de Britse markt. Daar kunnen klanten kiezen uit drie SUV-modellen: de kleine elektrische L4, de middelgrote L6 met een EV- of PHEV-aandrijving, en de grotere L8 PHEV. Andere Europese markten zullen volgen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Interessante ontwerpkenmerken<\/b><\/h4>\n

Tijdens een evenement op het hoofdkantoor in Wuhu, China, heeft Lepas zijn Aura-conceptcar onthuld. Geen SUV, maar een aantrekkelijke shooting brake. Het model introduceert de nieuwste ontwikkeling van de \u2018Leopard Aesthetics\u2019-ontwerptaal van het merk. Ivan Dulanovi\u0107, hoofdontwerper bij Lepas \u2013 geboren in Servi\u00eb, opgeleid in Milaan en voormalig ontwerpdirecteur bij Italdesign \u2013 presenteerde de auto.<\/p>\n

Zoals bij de meeste ontwerpconcepten wordt er in het persbericht van Lepas veel bombastische taal gebruikt over de filosofie achter het ontwerp. Denk aan \u2019op luipaarden ge\u00efnspireerde verhoudingen, vloeiende oppervlakken en expressieve verlichting\u201c en een ontwerp dat \u201delegantie, zelfvertrouwen en mysterie belichaamt\u201c.<\/p>\n

De Aura ziet er gewoonweg goed uit. Het gestroomlijnde ontwerp van deze tweedeurs shooting brake, met een lange wielbasis en korte overhangen, vormt een welkome afwisseling ten opzichte van de gebruikelijke SUV\u2019s. Interessant is dat het afgeronde zwarte oppervlak in de Aston Martin-achtige grille in feite een scherm is. Hierop kunnen afbeeldingen, verlichting en animaties worden weergegeven, net als bij de elliptische achterlichten.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Zal Lepas het daadwerkelijk produceren?<\/b><\/h4>\n

Voorlopig is de Aura louter een ontwerpconcept; er zijn geen plannen om een productieversie op de markt te brengen. Maar Dulanovi\u0107 heeft gezegd dat het concept als inspiratiebron zal dienen voor het toekomstige ontwerp van Lepas.<\/p>\n

Sommige interessante elementen van het concept zouden wel eens in toekomstige productiemodellen kunnen worden overgenomen. \u201cZowel de nieuwe voorbumper als de kenmerkende verlichting zullen terugkomen in toekomstige Lepas-modellen, waardoor een consistente ontwerptaal voor het hele merk wordt gecre\u00eberd\u201d, aldus Dulanovi\u0107.<\/p>\n
