In het derde kwartaal van 2026 bereikte de verkoop van volledig elektrische auto\u2019s (BEV\u2019s) in heel Europa recordhoogtes: 13 van de 27 EU-landen noteerden hun hoogste kwartaalverkoopcijfers voor BEV\u2019s ooit.<\/p>\n

BEV\u2019s zijn inmiddels de meest verkochte aandrijflijn in 11 Europese landen. Uiteraard lopen de markten nog steeds sterk uiteen. Het aandeel van BEV\u2019s in de nieuw geregistreerde auto\u2019s varieert van 4,5% (Kroati\u00eb) tot 98,5% (Noorwegen).<\/p>\n

Belangrijkste feiten<\/h4>\n

Uit de nieuwe cijfers over het derde kwartaal (gebaseerd op de registratiegegevens voor personenauto\u2019s van de Europese Vereniging van Autofabrikanten (ACEA)) kunnen enkele belangrijke mijlpalen worden afgeleid. Ten eerste maken batterij-elektrische voertuigen (BEV\u2019s) al 27% van de EU-markt voor nieuwe auto\u2019s uit. Ten tweede overtrof de verkoop van BEV\u2019s de gezamenlijke verkoop van benzine- en dieselauto\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Nadat de verkoop van BEV\u2019s in het tweede kwartaal (Q2, 2026) voor het eerst die van benzineauto\u2019s had overtroffen, lag de verkoop van BEV\u2019s in de EU nu 44% hoger dan die van benzineauto\u2019s. BEV\u2019s hebben in 16 EU-landen een recordmarktaandeel. Ten slotte daalde de verkoop van zuivere benzineauto's tot 19%, tegenover 26% in hetzelfde kwartaal vorig jaar.<\/p>\n

Een vertienvoudiging in minder dan acht jaar<\/h4>\n

Als we kijken naar een overzicht van bijna acht jaar aan kwartaalcijfers over de registraties van nieuwe auto\u2019s in de EU, zien we een grote verschuiving van benzine- en dieselauto\u2019s naar elektrische voertuigen. In het tweede kwartaal van 2019, v\u00f3\u00f3r de pandemie, werden er in de EU in drie maanden tijd meer dan 2 miljoen (2.065.000) benzineauto's en bijna 1,13 miljoen (1.129.700) dieselauto's verkocht.<\/p>\n

Op dat moment werden er minder dan 200.000 hybride auto\u2019s verkocht (185,6K), minder dan 60.000 BEV\u2019s (56,1K) en minder dan 30.000 PHEV\u2019s (28,3K). Samen waren elektrische auto\u2019s goed voor 270.000 nieuwe voertuigen, oftewel 7,81 TP3T van de totale markt.<\/p>\n

In het derde kwartaal van 2026 werden in de EU bijna 900.000 hybride auto\u2019s verkocht, wat neerkomt op 35,1% van de totale verkoop, gevolgd door BEV\u2019s met een verkoop van meer dan 710.000 auto\u2019s (27,9%),\u00a0 benzineauto\u2019s met iets minder dan een half miljoen verkochte exemplaren (19,4%), PHEV's met een verkoop van bijna 283.000 stuks (11,1%) en dieselauto's met een verkoop van 162.610 stuks (6,4% van het totale marktaandeel).<\/p>\n

Zoals we ook kunnen zien, is de totale EU-markt sterk gedaald ten opzichte van het niveau van v\u00f3\u00f3r de pandemie (van bijna 3,5 miljoen auto\u2019s tot iets minder dan 3 miljoen in het tweede kwartaal van 2019 vergeleken met het tweede kwartaal van 2026), maar het aandeel van elektrische auto\u2019s is bijna vertienvoudigd tot iets meer dan 70%.<\/p>\n

Belangrijke mijlpalen<\/h4>\n
