Multiobus, a subcontractor for Flemish public transport company De Lijn based in Flemish Brabant, has ordered 20 Ebusco 2.2 battery-electric buses, adding to an existing fleet of 16 Ebusco e-buses. The new models will be used for public transport around Tienen.
At the Busworld 2023 expo in Brussels, which also saw the launch of BYD’s Blade battery e-buses and Iveco’s E-Way H2 hydrogen bus, the Dutch manufacturer Ebusco was able to sign a contract with De Lijn subcontractor Multiobus for the delivery of 20 Ebusco 2.2 12-meter e-buses.
Ebusco 3.0 too expensive
This adds to Multiobus’s existing fleet of 14 Ebusco 2.2 and 2 Ebusco 3.0 buses, which are still in production. For this new order, Multiobus opted for the older 2.2 model, which comes in at a lower price and still suits the needs of the Tienen-based public transport operator.
These 20 new Ebusco 2.2s will have a low floor configuration and a battery pack of over 400 kWh. No delivery date is mentioned yet, but Multiobus CEO Olivier Van Mullem seems enthusiastic: “Now, six years since our initial collaboration with Ebusco, we stand even more firmly behind our shared philosophy, hence this new order and extended partnership.”
