Volvo’s electric sister brand, Polestar, is launching a second edition of the electric CAKE Makka moped via its Polestar Additions webshop in selected countries. The first limited edition developed with the Swedish manufacturer of light electric motorcycles, painted in Polestar’s Snow Matte color, was sold out in no time.

This one is in Sky blue, the color of Polestar’s roadster concept, as a kind of appetizer for the car, which was unveiled in March in Los Angeles and will become a reality by 2026 as the Polestar 6.

Street-legal with 45 km/h

The Makka Polestar Editon is a fully electric moped weighing 70 kg, with an interior permanent magnet motor of 2,8 kW peak power (1,55 kW nominal), a top speed of 45 km/hour, and offering a range of 54 km. It has an Electronic Braking System (EBS) to regenerate the braking power into the battery. Charging from 0-100 takes about three hours, 0-80 km two.

Polestar offers the particular moped via its Additions webshop, among other items like T-shirts, sweaters, caps or socks, and mountain bikes from Allebike. It’s available for Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom for a fixed price of €5 300 and delivered directly by Cake.

Shared brand values

Cake and Polestar began working together in 2019 when the CEOs of both organizations recognized the shared brand values of their companies. Scandinavian design, electric drives, and a new perspective on marketing, brand, and retail are just some of the similarities that made both companies eager to work together.

Cake makes electric mopeds (from 6 500 euros) and motocross bikes. These are lightweight two-wheelers built with high-quality components, such as a single aluminum frame and an Öhlins suspension system. The manufacturer assembles a 2,5 kWh battery that can be recharged via a regular 230 Volt power outlet.

For instance, the cross bike (Kalk INK) only weighs 82 kg and is in terms of performance comparable to a 250 cc ICE bike. It is on sale for 10 500 euros.
