Dacia Spring 2024 is seriously updated

As already mentioned in our article on Renault’s growth, Dacia now launches a new edition of its Spring electric model. The compact electric car, which looks like a small city SUV, is facelifted inside and out.

Along with its 2023 sales figures, the Renault Group announced that there will be a new edition of the 3.73-meter-long four-seater. The press release states that the new Dacia Spring has a complete visual overhaul. The order books for the Spring successor open in March and deliveries are supposed to begin in the summer.

Inside and out

The design is seriously overhauled for the exterior and the interior to make it look more mature and luxurious. “Today, the New Dacia Spring passes another milestone, taking those qualities that made it a success to the next level,” says the press release.

Spring has a revised interior with new LCD screens (10 inches for the higher trim levels) and optimized connectivity. A few new driving aids will also be available, like alert braking, sign reading, lane keeping, eCall, etc.

“Even more attractive than ever with an entirely renewed and more robust design, yet still as practical with exceptional interior storage space for its segment. Also, more versatile than ever with a more accessible 48 kW/65 hp engine, yet still as efficient thanks to a carefully managed weight.”

The current Spring has a 26.8 kWh battery. Its energy consumption, according to the WLTP mixed cycle, is 14.6 kWh/100 km. The range is 220 km for both power versions, the 33 kW/45 hp base version and the more powerful 48 kW/65 hp variant.

In addition to the low purchase price, maintenance intervals of 30,000 kilometers will also reduce customer costs. Dacia offers a battery warranty of eight years or 120,000 kilometers, with a guaranteed minimum charging capacity of 75%.

Number three on the EV private market in Europe

The Dacia Spring has always found its audience because it has constantly evolved since its launch, with a new brand identity in 2022 and then a more powerful 65 hp engine in 2023.

Yet it has always retained its fundamental strength: remaining the most affordable full-electric car on the market. Soon, there will be other contenders, but they will initially cost a little bit more. Since its debut in 2021, more than 140,000 Springs have already been registered worldwide.

Dacia sold 61,803 units of the current Spring last year, 26.4% more than in 2022. According to the manufacturer, it is the third best-selling electric model in the European private market.

In Germany, the carmaker is offering a discount (on the current model) of €10,000 to boost sales further. That means the model is available for as little as €12,750 as part of a promotion that runs until the end of March.

Dacia also states that the Spring has been sold more than 30,000 times in Germany since its debut in autumn 2021. The strongest sales year was 2022, with 14,369 units, partly due to the higher environmental bonus of up to 9,570 euros.

In 2023, Dacia sold 12,406 Springs in Germany. The limited offer until the end of March is apparently Dacia’s answer to the abrupt disappearance of all EV subsidies in Germany last December.
