Geely daughter Zeekr, sister company to Lynk & Co and Volvo, claims a new record for its updated 2024 Zeekr 007 sedan with the ‘Golden Battery’, which can charge from 10 to 80% in 10.5 minutes—4.5 minutes faster than the first generation.
It says its in-house developed ‘Golden Brick Battery’ is the world’s fastest-charging mass-produced battery. Zeekr presented the 2025 updates of its 001 shooting brake and 007 EVs at the Evolution New Generation press conference on Tuesday evening.
Adding 265 km in five minutes
Since launch, the 007 has been available with a 75 kWh Golden Battery and a 100 kWh CATL Qilin battery. The latter was already a ternary lithium battery optimized for super-fast 5C charging. Some 66% of 007 buyers chose versions equipped with the Golden Battery in the past, which provides a CLTC range of up to 688 kilometers.
The second generation of Zeekr’s Golden Battery, a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, has a charging speed that has gone from 4.5C to 5.5C. Zeekr says that it is outperforming all current mass-produced lithium ternary batteries. It can add 265 kilometers of CLTC range on a 5-minute charge and 582 kilometers on a 15-minute charge.
Five variants
The 2025 Zeekr 001 is offered in China in five variants with a new all-low starting price of 259,000 yuan ($32,935) and the most-performing one in its longest-range variant boasting a 750-kilometer CLTC range, at 329,000 yuan (€41,835).
According to data compiled by CnEVPost, the Zeekr 001 has delivered 63,903 vehicles so far this year, contributing 61.73 percent of Zeekr deliveries. In 2023, this was 76,246 units, which is quite good for what it calls a ‘niche model.’
With 30,662 vehicles this year, the Zeekr 007 sedan, aimed at the general EV market, contributes 29.62 percent. It’s offered in four variants, ranging from 209,900 yuan (€26,690) for the RWD base variant to 299,900 yuan (€38,135) for the 4WD performance version.
Boosting acceleration
Through an algorithm change, Zeeker has boosted the 007’s acceleration times. Rear-wheel drive versions cut 0-100 km/hour acceleration times from 5.4 seconds to 5.0 seconds, while the standard all-wheel drive version pitches off a tenth of a second, from 3.5 to 3.4 seconds.
The four-wheel drive performance version remains at 2.84 seconds, which Zeekr claims makes it the “world’s fastest accelerating mid-level pure electric car”.
