From Brussels Airport you can fly to nine new destinations this summer. These are Toronto (Canada), Billund (Denmark), Seville (Spain), Kayseri (Turkey), Monastir (Tunisia), and Béjaïa, Constantine, Oran, and Tlemcen (Algeria). From Brussels Airport, 59 airlines will thus depart to 175 destinations in summer.

Brussels Airlines, with four additional aircraft in its fleet, will fly to Billund and Monastir, among other destinations. In total, the airline will fly to 92 destinations this summer.

Direction sun and Canada

TUI Fly is launching new flights to Al Hoceima and Rabat in Morocco. In addition, the airline is also starting direct flights to four destinations in Algeria: Béjaïa, Constantine, Oran, and Tlemcen. TUI Fly will thus fly to 73 destinations from Brussels Airport this summer.

Transavia has a second plane based in Zaventem and offers nine destinations, including newcomers Malaga, Sevilla, Zakynthos, and Santorini. Vueling and SunExpress each launch two new destinations: Bilbao and Sevilla and Kayseri, respectively. Finally, Air Canada will offer five weekly flights to Toronto from 1 August.

New charges

On 1 April, new charges will come into force at Brussels Airport. Airlines coming to the airport with loud, polluting aircraft will have to pay more than if they use modern aircraft.

Brussels Airport sets airport charges for five years at a time. These are fees that airlines have to pay to use the airport operator’s services, such as landing and take-off, parking, and baggage handling. Those fees are indexed by an average of 11%.

“On average, the levy will be 25% cheaper to 40% more expensive, depending on the performance and time of day,” says Mobility Minister Georges Gilkinet (Ecolo). “For the oldest, most polluting, and noisiest aircraft, the levy doubles depending on the time of day.”

The levy due to skeyes was appealed by Brussels Airlines, among others, but the appeal does not have a suspensive effect.
