Last Friday, BMW Group Belux donated another 20 brand new BMW and Mini cars to several technical schools throughout Belgium and Luxembourg. The vehicles represent €1,3 million in net worth and are destined to train candidate technicians with the latest car technology.
It’s not the first time BMW Group Belux is acting as such. In July 2021, it donated 23 cars for technical education, representing an impressive €1 million investment. Furthermore, in the last three years, BMW Group Belux has donated 50 vehicles to different technical school communities.
From small to big
The range of cars donated went from a small, very sporty Mini John Cooper Works to a large, luxurious BMW 760i, representing precisely 1 383 372 euros worth.
“We don’t donate these cars for charity,” says Charles Deboeck, Technical Training Responsible & Account Manager at BMW Belux. “We see a win-win situation: our dealers, who are also investing in the project, can later benefit from hiring apprentices and future colleagues who are ‘at level’ in the latest technology.”
“That’s why we give schools and students also access to our diagnostic software. It’s also a way to play our societal role as the biggest car brand in Belgium for the moment as we look for a sustainable succession in our workshops,” he continues.
On Tour
The BMW Group Training Center is also launching a new program this year. The BMW & Mini Training on Tour means that certified BMW trainers and technicians will go to 11 different BMW dealerships all over the country to meet students closer to their homes.
The difference with a previous project called (adequately) ‘Summer School’, this Training on Tour will take place during the school year. The program will be enhanced with internships at BMW, Mini, or BMW Motorrad dealer’s neighboring technical schools.

Sixteen of the donated 20 cars were awaiting their new ‘owners’ last Friday at the BMW Belux headquarters.
