Fastned has opened first fast charging station in Wallonia

Fastned has opened its newest fast charging station – with eight charging points – in Vielsalm. These are the very first chargers from Fastned in the Walloon Region. For Fastned, the newest station in Vielsalm is their 21st in Belgium. Like the other Fastned stations, it is recognizable by the typical yellow roof covered with solar panels.

The new fast charging station is located at the roundabout of exit 50 on the E25, close to the RTBF tower. Thanks to its location on one of the main traffic axes in the Walloon Region, it will become a strategic hub for Fastned in the south of the country.

300 km range in 15 minutes

The new charging infrastructure has eight charging points with a maximum capacity of 300 kW. Drivers of an e-car can charge up to 300 km range in fifteen minutes with green energy from the sun and the wind.

The new charging infrastructure in Wallonia fits in with the ambition of the Walloon Region and the European Union to open a charging station every 60 kilometers along the highways and other major connecting roads by 2026.

1 000 stations by 2030

Fastned opened its first fast charging station in Belgium at Ostend Airport in October. Now the company wants to expand its network to 1 000 locations in Europe by 2030.

In Belgium, a new Fastned station was added recently in Halle, at the Sint-Rochus carpool car park in Halle, close to the Brussels beltway. Next month, two more will officially be inaugurated in Erpe-Mere and Ostend.
