Fastned installs 1.500th fast-charging station in Europe

At the beginning of the summer, Fastned, the Dutch fast-charging infrastructure provider, installed its 1 500th charging station northwest of Paris in Rouen. Since last summer, Fastned has opened more than 60 stations in Europe – usually locations with a lot of traffic.

The most recent fast-charging station is located along the A13 at the Bosgouet service area near Rouen, on one of the most popular routes for holidaymakers. Tourists with an electric car can now rely on more than 270 Fastned charging stations and 1 500 operational chargers across Europe.

Almost all newly installed chargers have a charging capacity of 300 kW or more. Depending on the vehicle type, up to 300 kilometers can be charged in 15 minutes.

Network expansion

Michiel Langezaal, CEO and co-founder of Fastned: “In 2012, we installed the first charging stations, and our mission was to provide sufficient charging infrastructure to offer electric drivers the freedom to go wherever they want. Today, holidaymakers can easily travel through Europe with an electric car. Even with a caravan or trailer, you can easily load at our drive-through stations without disconnecting.”

“Our goal and ambition is to expand our network at busy locations in Europe, with many new stations with the fastest chargers,” he added.

In Belgium, Fastned opened its first fast charging station at Ostend Airport. A new Fastned station was added recently in Halle, at the Sint-Rochus carpool car park in Halle, close to the Brussels beltway. Two more were officially inaugurated in Erpe-Mere and Ostend. In May, Fastned opened its first fast-charging station in Wallonia – the 21st in the country – in Vielsalm.
