MINI partners with French Angell for exclusive connected e-bike

The British iconic MINI brand, which saw the light of day in 1959 and rebirth under the wings of BMW since 2000, is launching itself into electric bicycles ahead of becoming a fully electric car brand itself. It partnered with the French start-up Angell Mobility, founded by Marc Simoncini, to bring two exclusive connected e-bikes to the market in limited editions of 1 959 units.

Available for pre-ordering from 15 October 2023 at €349, just 10% of the list price of 3 490 euros, with first deliveries starting in November 2023, Angell-MINI promises one of the lightest e-bikes in its field with a digital ecosystem that allows you to adjust your preferences and communicate with your bike via an integrated cockpit or smartphone.

Manufactured near Dijon

For its MINI E-Bike 1 model, Angell will produce e-bikes with a specific frame in Ocean Wave Green or Vibrant Silver in its factory in Is-sur-Tille, near Dijon. The bikes will be offered through MINI dealerships and a dedicated webshop, with aftersales service provided by Angell.

Each model is produced in a limited edition, with only 1 959 numbered units available worldwide, and a choice of two frame configurations, M (high frame) and S (low), for easy access. With a weight of 17 kg (S frame) and 17,5 kg (M frame), battery included, the MINI E-Bike 1 is one of the lightest e-bikes in its field, the company claims.

250 W electric motor

It features a seamless aluminum frame, carbon fork, 250W electric motor in the rear hub, and 27,5” aluminum alloy wheels. Brooks England handcrafts the saddle and handlebar grips. It offers various equipment, such as mudguards and chain guards, for maximum comfort, performance, and safety.

The bike has parabolic headlights and flashing lights for better night and day visibility. It also includes a bike alarm – audible and visual – and a two-year replacement warranty in case of theft.

It’s a connected e-bike with a high-visibility touchscreen built in, providing geo-location and easy unlocking from your smartphone or Apple Watch. GPS navigation is possible through a connection with the smartphone.
