Maxus introduces eUNIQ6, its first electric SUV in Belgium

Chinese car manufacturer Maxus, daughter of the SAIC group, presents its first SUV in Belgium, a fully electric one. The eUniq6 is a 5-seater with ample cargo space (754 liters of boot volume).

The SUV is driven on the front wheels by a 130 kW/177 hp electromotor, providing also 310 Nm of torque. The car can accelerate up to 100 kph in 10,5 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 160 kph.

The motor gets its energy from a 70 kWh battery pack (lithium-ion), which gives it a global range of 354 km (WLTP standard) and 452 km in city driving. Using a DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 30 to 80% in 35 minutes. AC charging goes via a 6,6 kW onboard charger, so a full charge takes 12 hours.

All-in

There is only one version, which is fairly lavishly equipped. The dashboard has two LCD screens with a diameter of 12,3 and 10,4 inches, respectively, mirroring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Leather upholstery, a panoramic sliding roof, electrically adjustable and heated seats, wireless charging, and a powered tailgate are standard items.

Also standard are a series of driving aids (ADAS) like automatic emergency braking,  lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, and parking aid. The car measures 4 735 mm in length and 1855 mm in width, with a 2760 mm wheelbase.

It offers space for 5 passengers, leaving a large cargo volume of 754 liters behind them. The weight is 1 960 kg, which means that it can only carry 325 kg, too little, in fact. Also, towing is limited to 750 kg.

“We are happy to introduce the Maxus eUniq6 SUV on the Belgian market,”  says Maxus Country Manager Guy Haesendonck. “With its powerful electric drive and its ample interior space, the eUniq6 is an ideal family car. Adding it to our model portfolio is an important step forward in our vision to offer modern and durable mobility solutions.”

Bonus-entitled

The Maxus eUniq6 can be ordered from January 2024 onward at a price of € 39 990, to be delivered in the spring of next year. The only option is metallic paint.

The price setting is no coincidence: the new electric Maxus is entitled to the € 5 000 bonus the Flemish government is offering for EVs next year priced under  € 40 000. The car will have a 5-year/100 000 km warranty scheme, climbing to 8 years and 200 000 km for the battery pack.
