Bpost buys another 500 e-vans bringing total to over 3,000

Belgian postal services, Bpost, has ordered 500 new electric vehicles, which are expected to arrive in the fall. As a result, the postal company’s fleet of EVs will soon exceed 3,000 units.

According to the company, this makes Bpost’s fleet not only the most significant operational fleet in Belgium, but also the greenest. As a result of ongoing sustainability initiatives, bpost now delivers more than one in four parcels without emissions nationwide.

“A year ago, the number of EVs used by postal workers had already doubled from 1,000 to more than 2,000, and this milestone was reached in June 2024,” Bpost says. “Following the latest order of 500 new electric vans, the fleet will grow to 3,146 e-vans by this autumn.” The recently ordered vans are Peugeot brand, owned by Stellantis.

At the beginning of this year, Bpost also put a second e-truck into service for transporting parcels between the various sorting centers. The truck operates alternately between the sorting centers at Antwerp, Liège, and Charleroi.

Bpost says it is proud that it can deliver more than one in four parcels using EVs. By 2030, Bpost aims to provide all parcels in Belgium to their destination without emissions. Currently, the company is delivering up to 800,000 parcels daily.

In addition to the two e-trucks and more than 3,000 e-vans, bpost’s green fleet also consists of 2,685 e-bikes and 485 e-bike trailers.
