Scania’s European electric road show hopes to boost e-truck sales

As the saying goes: Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. And with the still marginal market share of electric trucks, odds are that many transporters haven’t yet experienced them in real life. That’s why Scania is bringing its fully electric range to 14 European cities between mid-August and mid-December.

As not many incentives are currently in place for e-trucks in Europe, the market share remains marginal, with around 1.6% for heavy electric trucks in the first half of 2025. But manufacturers are facing a deadline in 2030, where at least one-third of new heavy-duty vehicles must be zero-emission.

The lobby groups are urging the EU to agree on regulations and incentives. Meanwhile, Scania is going directly to the customers in hopes of making them see the benefits of electrification.

14 cities and over 20,000 km

Scania’s electric roadshow is taking on 14 European cities: Copenhagen (Denmark), Kløfta (Norway), Paris (France), Piacenza (Italy), Ronda (Spain), Utrecht (The Netherlands), Serock (Poland), Kaunas (Lithuania), Riga (Latvia), Pärnu (Estonia), Vransko (Slovenia), Bucharest (Romania), Antwerp & Brussels (Belgium) and finally Borås (Sweden).

The tour begins on August 13 and runs through December 5. The entire range of electric Scania trucks will be present, comprising a total of six models, from the urban distribution truck Scania 23 P to the full-size semi Scania 40 R. The tour will cover over 20,000 km and will also explore the state of the European charging infrastructure.

‘Seeing truly is believing’

“We understand that many operators still have questions and concerns about electric transport,” says Alexandra Österplan, E-mobility stream leader at Scania.

“So, rather than sitting back and assuming people will come to us, we are driving our electric trucks to where they are so they can see and experience for themselves the business benefits that electrification can bring, as well as address their queries about electric vehicle batteries and provide advice on charging technologies and strategies.”

“We know from the surprised, positive reactions that we have had from customers who test our electric trucks that seeing truly is believing, and we are convinced that this roadshow will win hearts and minds to make the switch to electric transport.”
