The Belgian railway company NMBS/SNCB only launched new fares in October, but another fare change is already on the way. On February 1st, the prices for train tickets and season tickets will be indexed.
Tickets will then become 2.14% more expensive, and season tickets 2.60%. However, day tickets for car parking for train passengers and season tickets for long journeys will become cheaper.
Price of Train+ card stays the same
The price of the recently introduced Train+ card, which entitles you to a 40% discount during off-peak hours and weekends and which is off to a strong start with 418,000 cards sold in a month, remains unchanged at €6 per month or €48 per year.
For people with increased allowances, seniors, and young people up to the age of 26, the price is 4€ per month or €32 per year. The maximum prices for a single journey, at €14 and €5.50, respectively, also remain unchanged. In addition, a promotional campaign is still running until January 4th, during which the card can be purchased for half price.
Day ticket bicycle and car parking is cheaper for train passengers
The rates for pets (€3) and bicycles (€5 during rush hour and €3 during off-peak hours) will also remain the same. Train season tickets will increase by 2.60%, but this does not apply to journeys longer than 120 kilometers. For these journeys, the maximum price will decrease by 16%.
The rates for bicycle and car parking will also decrease. A day ticket will cost 27% less on average, but non-train passengers will have to pay 2.6% more. Season ticket prices for car parks will increase by 2.6%, while those for secure bicycle parking will remain unchanged at €75 euros for train passengers and €125 for non-passengers.
