Brussels’ Delta and Herrmann-Debroux metro stations to get facelift

After Diamant, Maalbeek/Maelbeek, Stokkel/Stockel, and Ossegem/Osseghem, Brussels metro stations Delta and Herrmann-Debroux on line 5 in Oudergem are also getting a facelift this year.

The work is part of Brussels Mobility’s Refresh program. With the Refresh program, Brussels Mobility aims to quickly improve user comfort through targeted interventions, without waiting for a complete renovation. The principle consists of coordinating various necessary renovation works within a limited period to optimize costs.

Adapt to the latest technical standards

Work will start in March at Delta: four escalators will be replaced, and improvements will be made to signage, lighting, mezzanine, and specific corridor tiles, and wall coverings, among other things. This should improve the atmosphere in the metro stations and bring it in line with the latest technical standards.

The renovation of Hermann-Debroux is still under review and is scheduled for September. Four escalators will also be replaced there.

Diamant, Maalbeek, and Stokkel are still undergoing refurbishment

The work that started last year in Diamant, Maalbeek/Maelbeek, and Stokkel/Stockel will be completed this year. In Diamant, most of the work has already been completed, with only a few minor details remaining.

In Maalbeek/Maelbeek, work began in September 2025 and will be completed by the end of this year. Most of the work will be finished by the anniversary of the attacks on March 22, 2016. In Stokkel/Stockel, where new guide tiles have been installed and the entrance hall has been redesigned, the work will be completed at the beginning of this year.

Renovation of Ossegem completed

The refurbishment of Ossegem/Osseghem metro station on lines 2 and 6 in Molenbeek has now been completed. The metro station has been fitted with modern lighting, new guide tiles for the visually impaired, and new handrails. The fire detection system has also been modernized, as has the signage; the floor covering has been repaired in places, and everything has been thoroughly cleaned.

A new work of art has also been installed: ‘Shooting Stars’ by Sarah Vanagt is a 100-meter-long fresco along the platforms, created by young people from the neighborhood. Under the bridge, you can also see unique marbles made from urban objects, the result of workshops in collaboration with Centrum West.
