Kia’s popular crossover, the Niro, is getting a pretty comprehensive facelift in March, bringing it more in line with the rest of the range. But the 2026 Niro will likely be hybrid-only, as the more modern Kia EV3 has taken the Niro EV’s place.
The second-gen Kia Niro hit global markets in 2022, bringing to life a much more striking compact crossover than its rather dull predecessor. It also featured three levels of electrification: self-charging hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric, with up to 463 km of range.
Usurped by the EV3?
Those figures were fine a few years ago, but now, with the Kia EV3 boasting over 600 km of WLTP range in its Long Range version, the Niro EV is becoming outdated. And with an updated version of the Niro imminent, it seems like the electric version will be axed.

Kia has unveiled the first images of the heavily revised Niro for 2026. It features the new “Opposites United” design language, as debuted on the EV9, with the “Star Map” light signature at the front. The front fascia has been completely redesigned, with new headlamps and a bumper design.
Total redesign
At the rear, too, things are quite different. The contrasting C-pillar is now painted body color, while the rear lamps areconsiderably slimmed down. New geometric wheel designs finish off the modern look.

Inside, the Kia Niro gets a similar treatment to the EV3 and other recent models. The entire dashboard has been revised, with a new digital display panel, a new steering wheel, and new materials all around. New trim color options seem to be part of the deal, as well.
More details in March
For more details and technical specs, including whether the Niro will retain its EV option, we’ll have to wait until March. That’s when Kia will tell all about the Niro facelift.
