The Lucien bicycle chain, part of the D’Ieteren mobility group, is opening two new stores in Brussels. With the opening of a new location in Schaerbeek and the relocation of the store in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre to Auderghem, Lucien now has six stores in the Brussels-Capital Region.
With this restructuring, Lucien aims to optimize its network by relocating stores to more accessible locations for Brussels residents. The brand-new store in Schaerbeek, on Leuvensesteeweg/Chaussée de Louvain, is already open and is set to become a key hub for cyclists in the northeast of the city.
‘Better service and faster support’
The opening of the store in Auderghem/Oudergem, a replacement for the location in Sint-Pieters-Woluwe, is scheduled for late March. Lucien is moving to this new location because the site in Oudergem is more accessible to commuters and residents near the E411 and Vorstlaan/Boulevard du Souverain.
“Our strategy is simple: we want to be where cyclists need us most,” says Karl Lechat, managing director of Lucien. “By concentrating our resources in the Brussels region, we can offer even better service and faster support to daily commuters.”
Second-hand bicycles
Following the restructuring, Lucien now has six stores in the Brussels region: Anderlecht, Evere, Ixelles, Brussels (Avenue Anspach), Schaerbeek, and Auderghem/Oudergem. The Waterloo location, however, is closing.
Previously, the store in Uccle also closed its doors to increase capacity at other stores. The flagship store in Ixelles remains the showpiece, partly due to its unique indoor test track.
The stores in Brussels now also offer refurbished second-hand bicycles, while the selection has recently been expanded to include brands such as Trek, alongside established favorites like Riese & Müller, Stromer, and Urban Arrow.
