EnergyVision gives Flemish customers with solar panels free plug-in batteries. The batteries have a capacity of 2.12 kilowatt-hours and are installed as standard in all new and existing installations – without contract adjustment. They can be placed near a power outlet and connected by an EnergyVision technician.
With this initiative, EnergyVision aims to equip families better to withstand the increasing turmoil in energy markets and help them benefit fully from their locally generated solar energy.
Less dependent on market fluctuations
Unlike other energy suppliers that raised their prices, scrapped discounts, stopped group purchases… EnergyVision is not changing its prices. This is possible because the company produces its own electricity, thereby being only minimally dependent on market fluctuations.
By installing free, compact plug-in batteries at existing and new solar panel installations in Flanders, the company aims to increase families’ self-consumption of solar power and reduce their dependence on grid electricity.
Electricity from one’s own roof…
“Analysis of our solar installations shows that many families today use less than 40 percent of their generated solar energy directly themselves, and a significant portion flows back into the grid,” says Maarten Michielssens, chief executive officer.
“With a battery, that energy can be stored when the sun is shining and used at times when there is no sun, and electricity from the grid is therefore considerably more expensive. This way, the cheapest electricity – that from one’s own roof – is effectively utilized to the maximum.”
Additional savings
“When geopolitical tensions and market uncertainty are once again weighing on energy prices, and when our competitors are implementing all kinds of price adjustments, we are seeking maximum protection for our customers. With this free battery, we ensure that their own power works even more for them,” Michielssens concludes.
Because the additional solar power has an all-in rate of €0.20 per kilowatt-hour and no distribution costs, grid tariffs, or additional levies are due, the average additional saving for a customer would exceed €100 per year.
