Lufthansa cabin crew to strike on Friday

Lufthansa cabin crew will go on strike this Friday, April 10, 2026. The call for a strike by the German union Ufo applies to flight attendants on flights departing from the major German hubs in Frankfurt and Munich.

The strike call is part of a wage dispute with management and concerns the future of a subsidiary. The union is calling on cabin crew to walk off the job from 12:01 a.m. to 10 p.m. The call applies to all Lufthansa flights departing from the two major hubs.

In addition, cabin crew members of Lufthansa CityLine on flights from Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Bremen, Stuttgart, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Berlin, and Hannover are also being asked not to report for duty.

New framework for CBA

Cabin crews are striking due to an escalating conflict over working conditions, particularly stalled wage negotiations – specifically, a new framework for the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) covering approximately 19,000 flight attendants. The unions claim that Lufthansa has not made a single “negotiable” offer to date, despite the billions in profits the company is generating.

In addition to pay, there is significant dissatisfaction regarding the predictability of schedules. Staff are demanding more predictability in their workweeks and longer rest periods between flights.

CityLine employees want a social plan

CityLine employees, on the other hand, are dissatisfied with management’s unwillingness to negotiate a social plan. The subsidiary CityLine is set to be shut down by the end of 2026 and replaced by a similar airline named Lufthansa City Airlines. According to Ufo, 800 jobs are at stake in that operation, and lower starting salaries and fewer benefits are on the table for the new company.

Earlier this year, Lufthansa pilots also went on strike over dissatisfaction with wage negotiations. In February, however, a wage agreement was reached for the German airline’s ground staff.
