Renault 4 Roland Garros show car highlights new Plein Sud version of the electric R4

Unveiled last Thursday to coincide with the release of the film promoting the 2026 Roland-Garros French Open tennis tournament, the Renault 4 Roland-Garros E-Tech electric show car made its global premiere on May 18 at the Renault stand at the Porte d’Auteuil stadium.

“Like the Renault 5 Roland-Garros E-Tech electric special edition (last year), Renault 4 Roland-Garros E-Tech electric show car features sport-chic styling with bodywork in a shade of Glacier White that highlights the wide range of customized features: black side pillars and roof arches, silver trim on the front wings with the Roland-Garros symbol, 18-inch ‘Parisienne’ black diamond-cut wheels with a smoked varnish finish and Terracotta Brown wheel hubs, and front and rear bumper trims also in Terracotta Brown,” the press release proudly boasts.

More particularly, the Renault 4 Roland-Garros E-Tech electric show car is on display in the Plein Sud version, with an electric-powered black canvas roof. Symbolizing the open-air experience, the roof opens to 92 cm long by 80 cm wide, flooding the entire cabin with light.

Specific design features

Inside, the Renault 4 Roland-Garros E-Tech electric features custom light grey front and rear upholstery made from fully recycled materials, with a graphic weave that evokes technical sportswear. The upholstery features open weave, primarily in the H of the front backrests. The overall effect is enhanced by side supports and an armrest sheathed in blue refined textile. The backrests of the front seats feature a heat-embossed Roland-Garros logo.

The front and rear door panels and lower dashboard strip include inserts matching the seat fabric, alongside the blue refined textile and a small French flag. On the dashboard, the vertical cross strip features an anodized metal finish with a backlit area displaying the name “Roland Garros Paris”.

The tip of the special e-pop shifter is inspired by the grip of tennis rackets, with the Roland Garros logo at the end, as on the base of a racket. The center console features a clay-coloured wireless charging pad. Clay-coloured floor mats with the R4 logo add the finishing touch to the interior. Lastly, the brushed aluminum door sills with the name “Roland-Garros Paris” also feature the Cross of Saint Andrew, reflecting the stadium’s architecture.

“In this ‘sporty chic’ interpretation, the Renault 4 Roland-Garros E-Tech electric show-car extends the very atmosphere of the tournament through its choice of materials and color,” says Paula Fabregat-Andreu, Design Projects Director, Renault brand. “The opening canvas roof evokes the open sky above the courts, a roofless space where players breathe as freely as spectators.”

“Clay is subtly present in the terracotta accents, the tournament’s foundational surface, and signature of its identity. Even the gestures become a tribute: the e-pop shifter gear lever tip, inspired by tennis racket grips, turns driving into a direct tennis reference. The lightweight, structured white technical knit fabric echoes performance attire. The blue stitching and finishes reinforce the idea of a sport that is both demanding and elegant, where technical mastery elevates style,” she added.

Available in autumn

A full reveal will take place during the tournament through an augmented reality feature available exclusively in the Hello Reno, Renault’s avatar app for iOS and Android. Users will be able to display the vehicle on screen in any environment (home, garden, garage, etc.), view it in a different color or with a standard roof, and explore it from every angle, both inside and out. The production version of the Renault 4 Roland-Garros E-Tech electric will be available in autumn 2026.

Official transport provider

Reflecting its commitment to the mobility of tomorrow, Renault is supporting Roland-Garros in its ecological transition by reducing its carbon footprint every year. “This ambition is supported by a fleet of 188 E-Tech electric and E-Tech full hybrid vehicles, designed for performance and environmental awareness,” Renault points out.

The main vehicles in the 88% electrified fleet are the Scenic E-Tech electric and the Rafale hyper-hybrid E-Tech 4×4 300hp. Renault Espace full hybrid E-Tech 200 hp completes the line-up, alongside the Renault Twingo E-Tech electric, making its debut, and, of course, the Renault 5 E-Tech electric Roland-Garros special series.

Renault is also taking advantage of the 2026 tournament to continue trialing autonomous shuttles on the open road, in partnership with WeRide. Two autonomous electric minibusses will once again provide transport for spectators between Porte d’Auteuil and the village.

The Renault 5 E-Tech electric will also be taking center stage with the Roland-Garros special series. Available in four elegant body colors, this is a Comfort Range version, with a 52 kWh battery /Renault
