Europ Assistance is rebranding as Redion

Europ Assistance, the creator of the travel assistance insurance concept as we know it today, is changing its name. The company will henceforth be known as Redion.

The new brand name encompasses the global Care platform of the Generali insurance group, which brings together the activities of Europ Assistance and Generali Employee Benefits (GEB) under a single identity and offering.

From travel insurance to mobility solutions

“Generali Care is a global, integrated platform specifically designed to provide comprehensive care across all aspects of people’s lives,” says Giulio Terzariol, Group Deputy CEO of the Italian Generali. The two entities had already been operating as an integrated unit within General Care for nearly three years, but the decision has now been made to change the name as well.

Specifically, it offers services such as travel insurance, travel assistance, medical assistance, employee protection (life, disability, accident, medical), and health and mobility solutions.

Europ Assistance is known worldwide. It will be a hell of a job to introduce Redion as a similarly well-known successor /Europ Assistance

Nothing will change for customers

Redion operates in more than 190 countries, has over 12,000 employees, and generates annual revenue of 5,8 billion euros. Generali positions itself in the market as the global leader in employee benefits and the global number two in assistance services and travel insurance – Allianz is generally regarded as the world’s largest travel insurer.

The rebranding will be introduced in the coming months. Starting in October, only Redion will remain. For existing customers, the company’s name change will have no impact whatsoever on procedures, contracts, or coverage.

Europ Assistance was founded in France in 1963 and began operating in Belgium a year later. From the very beginning, they also organized medical repatriations, which was revolutionary in the 1960s. The Belgian operations account for a turnover of 142,9 million euros.

The relationship between Europa Assistance and Generali has existed from the very beginning. Over time, Generali gradually acquired and consolidated control.
