Lantis opens bicycle route along Oosterweel construction sites

Lantis, the developer of the immense Oosterweel project in Antwerp, launched a new cycle route last Sunday that leads visitors past the construction works. The cyclists receive further explanation about the works and an idea of what the surroundings will look like in the future.

The approximately 15-kilometer route, which starts at ‘Het Steen’, follows the existing network of cycling nodes and takes participants past, among other places, the future Oosterweel interchange, the Canal Tunnels, and the surroundings of Antwerp-Luchtbal.

Guided tours

Visitors can stop at seven viewpoints and get a beautiful 360-degree view of the works. They can complete the route independently with an online guide or a free cycling map. Guided tours by bicycle or bus are also possible.

The Oosterweel connection is intended to complete the Antwerp ring road and improve traffic flow around Antwerp. At the same time, the project must ensure greater livability in the city.

The infrastructure on the Left Bank is largely complete, and the Scheldt Tunnel between the two banks is currently being finished. On the Right Bank, however, construction sites are getting into full swing. If everything goes according to plan, the entire Oosterweel Link will be completed in 2033.
