Innoptus Solar Team: ‘Less than 500 km to the finish in Amarillo, Texas’

On Wednesday, the Belgian Innoptus Solar Team grabbed first place in the American Solar Challenge, and one day later, it maintained that position despite a significant change in weather conditions.

On Thursday, the Belgian team finished 38 kilometers ahead of their Dutch rivals from Delft. Today, two days before the end of the American Solar Challenge, they are ready for the final kilometers to the finish line in Amarillo, Texas.

High expectations

With a lead of 51 km and less than 500 km to go, expectations are high. “With the finish now just under 500 km away, everyone is determined not to let the chance of winning gold on our American debut slip from our grasp,” the Innoptus Solar Team reported.

“What makes this race so special for us is not just the sporting challenge. Our journey from Minnesota to Texas takes us past stretches of American history. At the start, we followed the Mississippi River, before continuing our journey along the legendary Route 66. It’s a route that demands everything from us, because, during our journey across America, we’re completely self-sufficient.”
