40% of Flemish drivers can’t keep up with new traffic rules

For those who feel like it’s been an eternity since they took their driver’s license exam, the Great Traffic Quiz is back again this year. Through October 14, anyone can visit www.degroteverkeersquiz.be to test their knowledge of traffic, mobility, and safety.

A playful traffic quiz like this turns out to be sorely needed: according to a survey conducted last year by the Flemish Traffic Research Foundation (VSV) among 1,000 drivers in Flanders, only 53% said they were well-informed about the new traffic rules. About 40% even said that it is impossible to keep up with all the changes to traffic regulations.

“To make our roads safer”

With a new edition of the Great Traffic Quiz, the foundation aims above all to encourage road users to brush up on their knowledge. Through ten multiple-choice questions, participants can quicky find out if their knowledge needs a refresher. In 2025, the quiz was played 522,320 times.

Precisely because new traffic rules can be hard to remember, Flemish Minister of Mobility Annick De Ridder (N-VA) is calling on everyone to participate. “With this quiz, we’re making traffic knowledge accessible and fun. I’m calling on all Flemish people to join in: young and old, individually or together with colleagues and organizations. That’s how we’ll work together to make our roads safer,” she says.

Win an e-bike

Participants also have a chance to win prizes. Those who score at least 7 out of 10 are eligible to win an e-bike, gift cards, or a one-year subscription to a bike-sharing service.

The Great Traffic Quiz – it is also available in French – can also be played in teams within companies and organizations. 639 companies have already signed up for this new edition.
