Renault’s new electric LCV’s: Estafette, Goelette and Trafic

Renault has unveiled its new generation of electric light commercial vehicles (LCVs), which will be called Estafette, Goelette, and Trafic. The names are new, but the cars were already presented under the Flexis name in January due to the joint venture between Renault Group, Volvo Group, and CMA CGM.

A couple of weeks ago, Flexis unveiled its new software-defined electric van range, with three distinct LCVs based on a common skateboard platform with modern specs, like a 450 km WLTP range, 800 V batteries for fast charging (up to 80% in less than 20 minutes), a low floor height and a modern interior.

Now, Renault presents all three electric vans under its own brand name: Estafette, Goelette, and Trafic.

The Estafette is the parcel delivery van, with a height of 2.60 m to allow for a standing height of 1.90 m in the cargo area, which is also accessible from the cockpit. Between 1959 and 1980, Renault already used the Estafette name for its mid-sized vans, which were quite popular and sold over half a million units. In 2024, Renault already showed the Estafette Concept, which directly inspired this new model.

The Renault Goelette E-Tech features three body styles: chassis-cab, box van, and tipper / Renault

Next up is the Goelette, which borrows its name from a lesser-known one-ton van from 1947 to 1965. The historic Goelette was commonly sold as a chassis-cab or pick-up version, which is precisely what this new generation also offers: a chassis-cab, box van, and tipper body style are all available. This will also be the version of more specific, custom-made body conversions.

The Renault Trafic E-Tech replaces the current and popular mid-size van in the Renault range / Renault

Finally, the Renault Trafic E-Tech electric will replace the current mid-size van in the Renault range. The new model is less than 1.90 m tall for easy access in parking garages, with a long wheelbase and short overhangs for maximum interior space and a similar turning circle to a Renault Clio for easy maneuverability.

It also has the most coherent design of the three, with flowing lines and modern 3D LED light clusters. Renault does not mention a future passenger version in the press release, although this is likely.

On the market from 2026

All three vehicles will be built in the Renault Group Sandouville plant in France, where the current-gen Renault Trafic and Nissan Primastar are built. They are set to arrive on the market in 2026.
