Kia unveils EV4 electric saloon and hatchback ahead of EV Day 2025

Kia has unveiled the design of its compact electric saloon and hatchback EV4 ahead of the brand’s EV Day 2025, which is set for February 27th. We get a good look at every angle of both body styles, but the EV4’s technical details and interior design remain a mystery.

Kia promised us the production version of the EV4 at its EV Day 2025 in Tarragona, Spain, but the Korean manufacturer has decided to give us a taste of what’s to come a few days early.

The compact electric model will be available as a saloon and hatchback model, offering customers a choice of body styles and likely covering a larger target audience across markets with a style preference.

EV3-like design

In terms of design, the EV4 follows the cues introduced by the EV9 and is followed by the smaller EV3. Both variants feature the same ‘EV Tiger Face,’ with vertical headlamps and Kia’s ‘Star Map’ light signature.

At the rear, the Kia EV4 saloon opts for a slanted rear window, which likely opens as part of a large hatch for the trunk. The rear light units are pushed to the outer edges of the body, while a double-decker spoiler (on the trunk and above the rear window) gives a sporty look.

The EV4 hatchback differentiates itself with a vertical C-pillar, while in this case, the rear lights are connected thanks to a light strip. The hatchback looks shorter than the saloon but should be slightly more practical, thanks to the higher trunk space.

No technical details yet

“The Kia EV4 reflects our commitment to redefine mobility and push boundaries with our design. By offering a sedan and a hatchback, we offer an EV for different audiences that perfectly fits their diverse lifestyle and needs,” said Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design.

The Kia EV4 hatchback can be seen as the electric equivalent of the Ceed, although it will probably cost quite a bit more money /Kia.

“The EV4 sedan brings a fresh take on a 4-door body and features a sleek, low nose and long tail silhouette. The EV4 hatchback is a nimble, versatile all-rounder. Both variants are distinctive, sleek, and designed to excel in any situation.”

Kia has yet to release any technical details, but it seems likely that the EV4 will feature the same E-GMP platform as the EV3 SUV. Thanks to its lower, more streamlined shape and large (especially for the segment) 81.4 kWh battery, the Kia EV4 will likely exceed the EV3’s maximum range of 605 km. But to be sure, we’ll have to wait until February 27th, when Kia’s EV Day 2025 takes place.
