This spring, Alpine, Renault’s sporty subsidiary, has unveiled its second electric model and its first SUV: the A390. The five-seater fastback promises the same agility and performance as the A110 sports car, but adds daily practicality and a more high-end interior. Now it’s ready to order, with prices starting at €67,500 for the ‘basic’ GT version.
After A110 and A290 comes A390, Alpine’s first SUV has been teased for quite a while now, first with the appearance of the ‘beta’ concept car, and more recently with pictures of a nearly uncovered prototype during winter testing. At the end of May, the electric fastback was fully unveiled at an event at Alpine’s HQ in Dieppe, Normandy, in the presence of F1 driver Pierre Gasly and Alpine Ambassador Zinedine Zidane.

Mid-sized premium electric SUV coupé
With a length of 4,615 mm, a width of 1,885 mm, and a height of 1,532 mm, the Alpine A390 slots into the premium D-SUV segment, alongside models like the Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron, Cupra Tavascan, and perhaps the slightly larger Tesla Model Y. The trunk has a capacity of 532 liters, further enhancing its practicality.
The A390 promises the same performance as the sports car that marked the renaissance of the Alpine brand, the A110 (of which a fully electric successor has now been announced), while being a daily-drivable five-seater family car. The performance is achieved through three electric motors that deliver a combined power output of 400-470 hp, depending on the model variant (GT or GTS).
Up to 470 hp and torque vectoring
That means a 0-100 kph sprint in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 220 kph for the top-spec GTS model. And thanks to the two electric motors on the rear axle, the A390 benefits from Alpine Active Torque Vectoring, which distributes power between the rear wheels to maximize cornering speed and agility.
Power is provided by a newly developed 89 kWh battery featuring NMC chemistry and operating at 400 V. The battery was designed for Alpine by French specialist Verkor. The estimated WLTP range is 555 km with the smaller 20-inch wheels and 520 km with the larger 21-inch wheels. Charging from 15% to 80% takes 25 minutes thanks to a 190 kW DC fast-charging capacity.

High-tech interior
On the inside, Alpine has kept it familiar, with the same steering wheel as the A290, including the F1-style ‘Charge’ and ‘Overtake’ buttons. The infotainment cluster uses the Android system found in other Renault models, such as the Austral and Scenic E-Tech.
Other features include Alpine Telemetrics, which not only displays driving and performance data but also offers coaching from Alpine’s test pilots and challenges to complete while driving. For audiophiles, Alpine has collaborated with French specialist Devialet on the A390’s sound system.
Pricing starts at €67,500
The Alpine A390 will be produced in the brand’s historic Dieppe site, while the motors come from Cléon. The battery cells are produced in Dunkirk and assembled into packs in Douai, making this an entirely ‘Made in France’ model.
In Belgium, order books have opened, and pricing starts at €67,500 for the 400 hp GT model, which sprints to 100 kph in 4.8 seconds and promises a range of 555 km. The GTS top model (470 hp, 0-100 kph in 3.9 seconds) will arrive a little later and is priced at €78,000. First deliveries are expected at the beginning of next year, while the first cars will be visible in the showrooms at the end of this year.
Orders are accepted starting 4 November, with priority given to holders of an ‘Alpine A390 Premiere pass’. Other potential clients have to be patient until 18 November. Ordering the GTS will be possible at the beginning of 2026.
