Belgian VW importer D’Ieteren opens Maserati dealership in Antwerp

D’Ieteren keeps expanding its activities in unchartered territory. After the egg-shaped city car, Mircolino, and the newly adopted multi-brand approach for its used car subsidiary, MyWay, the importer of the VW Group brands, is set to open a dealership for Maserati in Antwerp.

“With great pleasure, we announce our collaboration with D’Ieteren for the region of Antwerp,” said Director of Maserati Western Europe Julien Brunet. “D’Ieteren possesses a strong regional presence and knows and understands the market very well.”

Only one in Antwerp

Maserati struck a deal with Porsche Center Antwerp in Wommelgem, where the new showroom will be located. Currently, this is D’Ieteren’s most significant luxury retail point.

For Maserati, it will be the only one in the region of Antwerp and will be built around the new corporate identity offering an immersive experience to clients. The opening is expected at the beginning of 2023.

Belgium can now rely on three official dealerships for the Maserati brand to better channel the sales growth, which must be realized by the new compact SUV Grecale and the bigger potential among executives from small and medium-sized companies from the upcoming electric range called Folgore. Maserati wants to become a fully electric brand by 20230.

Growth in luxury segment

D’Ieteren has just awoken from a reshuffle of its dealer network, closing half of the showrooms in Brussels, including the one at its headquarters in the Maliestraat in the center of Brussels. Instead, the group wants to focus on its profitable stores, primarily situated across the axis between Antwerp and Brussels.

With brands like Audi, Porsche, Bentley, and Bugatti, the VW Group importer bows on a long-lasting experience in the luxury segment. According to the official statement, D’Ieteren wants to grow its presence in this upper part of the market, for which Maserati proves an opportunity.

CEO of D’Ieteren Denis Gorteman: “We are proud that our partnership with Maserati has been clinched. We look forward to seeing this iconic and ambitious brand grow in the strategic region of Antwerp.”

And ACG?

In a way, it’s remarkable that the extra dealership hasn’t been concluded with Maserati’s current partner. The other sales points are in Ghent and Brussels and are both operated by ACG, a dealer organization that doesn’t fail to expand in the consolidating climate the sector is wading through.

Besides Maserati, ACG also exploits retail points for Volvo, Polestar, and Hyundai and recently added the showroom from Jaguar-Land Rover in Ghent to its portfolio. As a result, it is now no longer the only Maserati dealer in Belgium.
