Ebusco to deliver 63 electric buses for Groningen

Dutch electric bus manufacturer Ebusco has secured a new deal with Dutch public transport company Qbuzz, providing up to 63 Ebusco 3.0 electric buses for the Groningen and Drenthe provinces. The new-gen buses are equipped with a large battery pack, allowing them to perform their daily duties without recharging.

Qbuzz is a regional public transport operator in the Netherlands with a network in Utrecht, Drechtsteden-Molenlanden-Gorinchem, and Groningen-Drenthe, where this new order of up to 63 e-buses will partially replace the fleet of 400 buses starting in 2024.

Long range

The order placed with Ebusco consists of 45 Ebusco 3.0 12-meter buses and 18 Ebusco 3.0 18-meter articulated buses, of which four are still under option. All buses are equipped with a 500+ kWh battery, allowing for a range of up to 700 km, according to Ebusco.

This should allow the buses to complete a whole day without recharging, as Qbuzz already has 130 Ebusco 2.2 e-buses in the fleet, driving between 350 and 375 km per day. This adds up to about 100 000 km per year. It comes in handy in the not very densely populated provinces of Groningen and Drenthe, which means the (e-)buses have to cover more considerable distances.

This new order continues the positive wave that Ebusco has been riding after a record-breaking 2022 with 1 474 orders and the launch of the Ebusco 3.0.
