Astara Western Europe, formerly Alcopa but now part of the Spanish ‘open mobility company’ Astara, becomes the importer of the Chinese Seres car brand in the Netherlands. According to Astara, it fits into its strategy to promote electric mobility.
The focus of the deal is to implement a solid dealer network and to become a leader in the electric SUV segment in the Netherlands.
We are very proud to be able to add Seres to our brand portfolio,” said Olivier Sermeus, Managing Director of Astara Western Europe. “It confirms our belief in electric and sustainable mobility. Seres will be the 11th brand we are offering and our third in the Netherlands. It will surely add to our further growth path.”
Wan Zhijun, General Manger of Seres Europe replied: “We are very proud to come to the Netherlands with our experienced and respected partner Astara which has a strong presence in the market. Seres will be able to build on this brand awareness. Together we will try to bring an increasing number of sustainable products to the Netherlands.”
Three models to start with
The offer of Seres will be electrified SUVs, in a Dutch market where SUVs of all kinds account for 49% of the total car market. The Seres SUVs will emphasize design, performance and comfort, with the focus on safety, the press release says.
The basic moel offered on the Dutch market will be the Seres 3. There will also be a Seres 5 and a Seres 7. In the future, there will be additional models to have a broad selection of SUVs which will all have a range of more than 500 km according to the WLTP standards.
