Spanish charging station operator Eranovum wants to install more than 1,000 charging stations in Belgium over the next three years. The company says there are many opportunities, especially in Wallonia.
In France, the company also wants to install 1,000 additional charging points this year, in addition to the 9,000 it targets in Spain by 2026.
Eranovum strategically focuses on “destination charging,” where the charging speed is tailored to how long the car driver stays at a location. Hence, there is a preference for locations near catering establishments, supermarkets, and shopping or sports centers.
Mainly in Wallonia
Eranovum has been operating in Belgium for a year with 25 charging points in five locations. In 2025, charging points are planned in supermarket parking lots (Brico, Carrefour Market, Délitraiteur, Delhaize, etc.).
But the company also wants to aim at charging points at sports clubs and catering establishments, for example, where the charging time can be longer than at a supermarket. With, say, 60 kilowatts instead of 150 or 200 kW, a car can be charged in an hour and a half.
“The adoption of EVs in Belgium is high,” says Tai Nguyen, Country Manager of Belgium at Eranovum. “However, the overall coverage remains insufficient, especially in Wallonia, where there are still significant gaps in infrastructure for fast charging.” Eranovum, therefore, plans to install charging stations mainly around Liège, Charleroi, and Waterloo, but it also looks at locations in Flanders.

Green electricity
Eranovum works with green electricity. This is still being purchased, but the intention is to buy solar energy from solar panels on agricultural land eventually. To this end, a joint venture has been established with Brussels-based EtherEnergy.
The latter promises that farmers can continue to use the land for agricultural purposes, such as sheep pasture while earning extra money by installing solar panels on it. In time, Eranovum also hopes to install its own solar panels on its charging stations.
In Spain, Eranovum already has more than 360 charging points in operation and more than 1,800 committed for the coming months, both in urban and rural areas.
It recently also bought three solar plants from Grupo Gransolar in Madrid and Castilla La Mancha, with a total capacity of 14.7 MWp, which is good for approximately 8,600 EVs driving 15,000 km per year.
