BYD kicks off production of rugged Fang Cheng Bao Ti7

BYD’s latest model in the Fang Cheng Bao range, which produces rugged-looking SUVs, has started production in China. The Fang Cheng Bao Ti7 is the second-largest model in the range and sports a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. It may also come to Europe under the Denza umbrella.

The Fang Cheng Bao Ti7 takes over the same styling cues as the Bao 5, which was launched in 2023. The rugged-looking SUV also bears some similarities to models like the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Land Rover Defender, two iconic terrain-ready SUVs that BYD aims to compete against in Europe.

Fang Cheng Bao is coming to Europe under the Denza brand

The Ti7 is 4,999 mm long, 1,995 mm wide, and 1,865 mm tall, with a 2,920 mm wheelbase. That makes it the second-largest model in the Fang Cheng Bao range, under the Bao 8, which is an actual body-on-frame terrain vehicle.

The Bao 8 has already been launched outside of China as the Denza B8, specifically in the African and Middle Eastern regions. As Denza has already begun its market introduction in Europe, it seems likely that the Fang Cheng Bao models will also reach Western shores.

Plug-in hybrid with over 100 km range

As is familiar with BYD’s plug-in hybrid vehicles, the Fang Cheng Bao Ti7 features a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, paired with one or two electric motors (218 hp at the front, 272 hp at the rear). The maximum combined power output for the dual-motor version should be approximately 500 hp.

As for the batteries, two packs are available, both from BYD subsidiary FinDreams: 26.6 kWh, for an electric range of 105 km, or 35.6 kWh, with up to 130 km CLTC range.

Q4 2025 market launch in China

Fang Cheng Bao’s fourth model has not yet been officially launched, but according to Chinese media, the price range is expected to be between 250,000 and 300,000 yuan (approximately €29,950 to €35,950). The Chinese market launch is scheduled for Q4 2025, and we’ll see if the model also arrives in Europe later on.
