Can-Am, known for its light terrain vehicles, three-wheelers, and quad bikes (ATVs), has launched the new Outlander Electric ATV. The electric quad bike gets the same in-house developed electric drivetrain as the group’s electric motorbikes and snowmobiles, making it more capable than its combustion counterparts.
Can-Am is part of the Canadian BRP group (Bombardier Recreational Products), which also has the well-known jet-ski brand Sea-Doo and the snowmobile brands Ski-Doo and Lynx. Can-Am is the terrain vehicle brand of the group, building off-road vehicles on two, three, or four wheels, as well as road-focused trikes like the Can-Am Ryker and Spyder.
First electric ATV from Can-Am
While Can-Am already builds electric motorbikes, such as the Pulse and the Origin, an electric ATV or quad bike was not part of the range until now. The manufacturer has converted its popular Outlander model into the Outlander Electric, designed for farmers, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Indeed, the silent operation means that the Can-Am Outlander Electric can be used on farms and in wildlife areas without disturbing the peace. Its in-house developed Rotax E-Power drivetrain delivers 47 hp and 72 Nm of torque, comparable to the second gasoline model, the Outlander 700. Can-Am has also worked on the tires, the cooling system, and the suspension to ensure a quiet ride.
The 8.9 kWh battery provides a range of up to 80 km, while charging takes 50 minutes to increase from 20% to 80% at a regular Level 2 charger. However, more interesting is the towing capacity, which is up to 830 kg, surpassing that of the top-of-the-line gasoline-powered ATVs from Can-Am and other brands.
Twice as expensive as the gas model
However, this comes at a cost. With a starting price of $12,999 (€11,100), the Can-Am Outlander Electric costs twice as much as the entry-level Outlander 500. This makes it attractive only to those who need or want a quiet drivetrain on their ATV.
