Four years after the launch of Hyundai’s futuristic minivan, and two years after rumors of an electric version, Hyundai has unveiled the Staria Electric at the Brussels Motor Show (BMS) 2026. It features the 800V drivetrain of its Ioniq siblings, while the revamped interior will also make its way to the rest of the range.
The Hyundai Staria was first unveiled in 2021 and launched commercially in 2022 as the successor of the old H-1 minivan. Its striking, futuristic look made it stand out within its segment, and it suited the rest of the modern Hyundai and Ioniq model range beautifully.
The only traditional part of the Staria was its drivetrain: conventional diesel and gasoline engines to start, with a self-charging hybrid added later. Now, the Staria Electric matches its space-age looks with a suitable powertrain.
Battery and motor from the Ioniq 5
As 2024 rumors predicted, the Hyundai Staria Electric borrows the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6’s electric drivetrain. The 218-hp motor now powers the front wheels, but the 84 kWh battery is identical and offers up to 400 km of estimated WLTP range. Thanks to its 800V architecture, fast charging (10-80% SoC) takes only 20 minutes. No performance figures are provided, except for its top speed of 184 km/h.

Luxury or Wagon
Inside, the Hyundai Staria Electric makes no compromise compared to the combustion version. Customers can still choose between a 9-seater ‘Wagon’ version or a 7-seater ‘Luxury’ model, with two reclining chairs on the second row.
The interior is modular and includes 100-W USB-C ports and a full-size power socket to power a wide range of devices. Other features include a 2,000 kg towing capacity, a Digital Key which can be shared, and an updated infotainment system with over-the-air (OTA) updates.

Revamped dashboard
At the front, the driver can enjoy a revamped dashboard that replaces the old touch-sensitive buttons with physical ones that don’t attract as many smudges. A new steering wheel and transmission selector complete the look and bring the Staria back in line with the rest of the model range.
Hyundai plans to launch the Staria Electric in Korea and Europe in the first half of 2026. We’ll expect to have all homologated performance and range figures, plus pricing, by then.
